I go to Tennstopet sometimes for lunch and it's of good quality. It's not one of the cheaper places for lunch around Vasastan and the portions are not very big. Service is good though and food is always tasty if you are into typical Swedish food.

Old style restaurant with traditional menu. Really good food and service. The goose menu served in the fall season is great. Slightly different from the average restaurant in its old style, slightly worn decor and with its traditional menu.

This is a great place for good Swedish food. We ordered the herring platter for two and two main courses. But after the herring platter we cancelled because it was so much food - that and a few beers made for a very good meal. Other specialties were meats and poultry. Good desserts. The atmosphere is nice and informal. Excellent... More

This restaurant feels very genuine and authentic. Heard that its been there since the 60s. Swedish husmanskost at lunchtime. Had a lovely Toast Skagen with lots of shrimps. A nice neighbourhood feeling. Worth a detour.

They REQUIRE you to take off your coat even when you tell them you're still cold and then they charge you 40kr to get it back. NOT a happy customer.

A truly classic Stockholm restaurant with 150 year old traditions. Wonderful interiour. Food is good. However my peppersteak was medium-rare instead of rare as ordered. The Cognac sauce was excellent though. Somewhat pricey. A bit irritating that you have to leave your jacket in the wardrobe paying 20 SEK.

Frequently visited by my side and I am always happy! Classic dishes in a pleasant environment where the owners managed and lift this famous restaurant. I recommend a visit here. Mats Samara, Stockholm, Sweden

The concierge of our hotel recommended the place, first we were not very amused as it looks like the bar is the restaurant as well as a very cold restaurant. The menu is very fishy. Had the veal carpaccio and the best Pepper steak for a very long time, delicious meat!

When we asked our hotel for a traditional Swedish restaurant, they recommended Tennstopet. We're so happy we went: it was a wonderful experience in many ways. The food was delicious, the setting was old-fashioned and elegant, and our waiter was professional yet personable and funny. We started with the herring platter for two and he explained each item and how... More

Staying in Vasastan

Neighborhood Profile
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
