It was fine. Special in the fact that the dining area is quite big seems its been around for a long time. We had to wait 20minutes for a table, but they have a bar next door to enjoy a drink first. The portions are very substantial and we order one meatballs plus another dish to share and it was... More

We enjoyed our dinner at Pelikan during our first night in Stockholm, as we felt it gave us great insight into traditional Swedish cuisine. We started off with the herring on bread appetizer, which was tough to get down! It was extremely sour and creamy. Our waitress was this burly Swedish lady and when she collected our plate, she asked... More

This restaurant served typical Swedish Fayre and was enjoyable. The toilets need a little looking after a little better. Overall it was an enjoyable meal

I was originally introduced to this restaurant by my Swedish cousin and her husband and on my last visit it was packed to the rafters with locals (always a good sign). The restaurant is located South of the city 5 mins walk from the Skanstull underground station, the original building being a workers restaurant from many years ago. The menu... More

..and it was worth it. We shouldn't have been surprised, Anthony Bourdain recommends them here and trip advisor backs it up. Good meatballs, the lingonberries, mashed potato and gherkin are great accompaniments and the beer was tasty. We did skip the starter, and whilst they looked amazing they did also look massive. Instead we opted for a dessert and went... More

We booked this restaurant through bookatable.com on Monday afternoon for dinner the same day. It is in trendy studenty type area off the tourist trail however the restaurant had a fair few tourists dining in it. We got the T-Bana there; the stop (Skanstull) is just over the road from the restaurant. The restaurant itself has a kind off beer... More

Really good meatball dish, good service, gorgeous interior, easy to find and we weren't rushed after we had finished to pay/leave and it was quite filled out for a Sunday evening. Excellent for traditional Swedish food!

Went here for dinner when a friend was visiting from the UK as it had been recommended by others, and we had especially heard the meatballs were great. We were quite disappointed though. While the sauce, lingon and potatoes were tasty, the meatballs themselves were quite dry with too firm texture rather than being tender. The service was also very... More

Recommended to us by by a local, but also had read about it online. It was frequented by locals and tourists alike, and had friendly pub vibe. For meals we ordered the reindeer which was tender and delicious, and the article char fish was also great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy to find, very close to metro stop, worth... More

A nice, plain place, where you should go and eat, encountering Swedish taste and cooking. Seems to be always full, so don't go without making a reservation. The staff is very cheerful, helpful and friendly. The food is ok, being rather pricey for the type of food that is served. But definitely does give the feeling of old Stockholm

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighborhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
