The restaurant is located in an historical building, retro environment, in contrast to the many designer restaurants in the city. you can breath air of tradition, the staff is very kind and friendly and the quality of the food is far superior to others swedish restaurants we have been to. Here you can taste traditional dishes, presented in an excellent... More

I've vistiden this place a lot over the years but before this visit it was probably some 15 years since. And the place has really has really undergone a metamorphosis! From the ruff, scrubby and classic "ölhall" as it once was to the really fancy restaurant it now is. But contrary to many other restaurants with ambitions they've kept the... More

Pelikan is a large beer hall style restaurant that serves some tasty traditional Swedish dishes cooked to a great standard. To start I enjoyed the toast skagen and my boyfriend ordered the SOS herring which were equally nice. I recommend having some aquavit with your starters, it's delicious and reasonably priced. The meatballs were nicely cooked with all the traditional... More

I felt like I was in a classic neighborhood establishment , full of regulars having a great time . The place is quite homey and comfortable . My meal of meatballs and mashed potatoes was well prepared and satisfying . The apple pie I ordered for dessert was bland . I would definitely return for another meal .

Pelikan was originally opened in 1664, and hosts traditional Swedish fare in a warm and inviting space. What would seem like Swedish home cooking is presented like fine dining and all the dishes we had were incredibly good. Service was friendly and the environment was not too formal for bringing a little 4-year old. I really enjoyed eating here, and... More

We had just arrived and made our way to Pelikan based on numerous recommendations. We ordered the meatballs and the meal well-exceeded our expectations, which had already been built up. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to try some traditional Swedish recipes.

This restaurant with its long tradition is just great. The food is mostly based on Swedish tradisional recepies and taste just great. The combination of the food, the place itself and the great staff makes the Pelikan a restaurant you want to visit as often as possible.

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighborhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
