This restaurant is so close from a metro stop Skanstull T-bana. They served authentic Swedish dishes that we had not tried and could explain them in detail. We went with a vegetarian friend and she found their potato dumpling AMAZING! It's perfect for a date night and a family get together!

Our guide, a Södermalm local, recommended Pelikan for its traditional Swedish fare and pleasant ambiance (wood, high ceilings, murals). We went authentic and had the Swedish meatballs, kalix roe on toast, lingonberries, champagne.... Others have noted that the service is good but not sometimes a bit slow. We waited a bit long for our entrees (the wait staff apologized with... More

Despite the glowing reviews for this restaurant, my family and I were unimpressed by this restaurant. My sister having visited Stockholm last year was also quick to recommend this restaurant, however it did not live up to the expectations we had of it whatsoever. The first thing we noticed when walking in was a rather bad smell - I couldn't... More

We were lucky to stumble onto this place. Our waitress recommended local beers to drink, literally made down the street, and we had to order the Swedish meatballs, which came highly recommended. We loved how moist and fluffy they were. And we loved the lingonberries along side them. What a treat! The restaurant itself was nice and rather old fashioned.... More

We had the best meatballs here, and you can also have reindeer meet, something quite traditional over here. The place is really nice, although a bit expensive... But it is 100% worth it. Attention could have been better, but the food takes the best prize in here! Definitely a must if you are around

We enjoyed a very delicious Swedish dinner here. It's a very popular restaurant so reservation was recommended. Beef tartar, and Swedish traditional fish dishes "s. o. s.", meatballs with potato mash, and fried fish must be tried. A traditional liquor called Skåne was also worth trying with these food. The waiter was busy so ordering food and checking the bill... More

Pelikan is a really nice room, high ceilings, lots of wood, authentic feel. We were there on a sunday evening at 19.30 and by 20.00 the place was pretty much full with people waiting by the bar for a table. The staff were very friendly which is not always the case when going to busy and well rated restaurants, but... More

It's not by a chance that the restaurants is one of the oldest in Stockholm. They serve real authentic swedish dishes of high quality. Beautiful antique interior that clearly has a lot of histories to tell.

Very quirky restaurant, yummy food and very large portions! I recommend the meatballs here! This is a must if you're going for a weekend break, great food and service with a relaxed but buzzy atmosphere!

We had a lovely night, the place has a real buzz and was busy, even at 7pm on a Thursday evening. Good beers, very nice meatball dish with mashed potatoes, gherkin and lovely berries. The calves liver was delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient. Some of the tables are very, very close together but that does add to the feel... More

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighborhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
