In the most delightful of ways, Pelikan is both historic and showy. The New York City equivalent might be a combination of Fraunces Tavern (the city's oldest building) and Central Park's Tavern on the Green. It's big, old, and enamored with its own mytholgy. The food is good, as is the aquavit. You probably don't need to go more than... More

"Vi som inga pengar hava uppå halta lottas krog...." Dunno if you're familiar with a film by Roy Andersson whose title is "A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence". A long sequence is shot in a swedish pub (krog) where people start to sing the ancient popular song whose lines I wrote in the beginning. The atmosphere at... More

This place doesnt match up to the hype but wasn't dissapointing either. Service was good, maybe the best service i've had so far in sweden, and the food was pretty good. The SOS appetizer is strange.but kinda delicious.

This restaurant specializing in Swedish meatballs has been around since 1773! I had the meatballs and they were great, my husband enjoyed the reindeer. It is very authentic and worth a visit. The one downside was it took quite a while for the food to come

This restaurant has improved since my last visit a few years ago, a slightly longer and more interesting menu, and they take reservations. But the room is as lovely, the service as friendly, and the experience as much worth it. Food is really good now. This is a classic restaurant in Stockholm, historic, and very much worth the visit.

So crowed, so lousy, really not confortable place to enjoy a dinner. It is quite long and the food is maybe to expansive for the quality and the taste. Avoid this place if you can!!!!

I went for a late dinner. Interior is very nice - old fashioned, traditional. Service was great! Very pleasant. I ordered an appetizer and the meat ball dish. The sauce was quite salty but other then that it was tasty. I might go back with someone if they haven't been but not just for myself.

We went to Pelikan based on the recommendation of a Swedish friend to have a traditional dining experience. First impressions are good - the restaurant is attractive in an old fashioned way. We (5 people) shared two charcuterie plates then ordered 5 different main courses. There was a lot of sharing and 'you must try this'. As we left we... More

We went with the recommendation of a friend that lives in Stockholm to have a taste of the typical Swedish cuisine and it really was a good decision. Although the price is high, also are the portions.

We found our visit to Pelikan very disappointing given some of the recommendations in guide books. The food was only ordinary, the service not particularly good and the price not far below that of some fine dining establishments. It is a beer hall without the atmosphere and attention to detail of Munich. It would be OK for large groups such... More

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighborhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
