My girlfriend and I actually went here by accident. It was 10am. Our flight got into Copenhagen at 7:30am. We hadn't slept. We had lugged heavy bags around multiple detours due to the Copenhagen Iron Man race course. And then the cafe I had scoped out near the National Gallery turned out to be closed. We were tired, hungry, and cranky. I did a quick search for a place we could sit down and eat breakfast and actually came up with another restaurant not too far away. But, having been in the city for all of two hours, my sense of direction was not strong. We wandered into Kalaset and asked for a table. I give this rather unnecessary narrative to provide the context for how badly we were in need of a decent meal. It really had the potential to make or break our entire first day in the city. Kalaset delivered. Getting there right as it opened, a number of tables were already reserved for brunch. We were able to sit outside, where tables could not be reserved. The iced coffee was remarkably good. I had chimichurri scrambled eggs. Having a gluten allergy, I asked the waitress if I could get the dish without bread, and she offered a gluten free option without my having to ask. The dish itself was delicious, a generous portion that really hit the spot. Now that I know it's there, I would definitely seek this place out if I'm ever in the area again.

First evening in Copenhagen looking for a nice but cozy restaurant. After a quick search we walked into this restaurant. The entrance was via a small staircase a few steps lower than street level. However, this immediately created a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. It was already pleasantly busy inside and you could tell that many Danes also eat here. Enjoyed two delicious burgers and delicious crispy fries here. Afterwards we drank a chocolate milk deluxe, but they did not have enough marshmallows for two cups. Unfortunately, but this was nicely compensated on the bill. Had a great meal here, excellent price and quality. Highly recommended.

We ordered a flat white, an oat flat white, pancakes and bacon, and a brunch burger. We received two normal flat whites but staff were friendly and swapped the coffee for an oat flat white with no trouble. 350 DKK in total Food was tasty. Brunch butter was nice and filling with lots of tasty toppings. Chips were slightly less warm than I would’ve liked but tasty. Pancakes were tasty and sweet. Bacon went very well with them. Staff very friendly especially due to how busy it was. Toilet door was hard to open and lock

I had the vegan brunch (tofu and mushrooms on toast) and it was a confused dish with everything you can think of thrown at it - roasted carrots and red peppers, mushrooms, tofu, picked red cabbage, harissa ketchup, a single falafel wedged into some beetroot hummus, and perhaps most confusingly of all a piece of undercooked broccoli. I paid extra to have truffle in the tofu but couldn’t taste any. The dish was a cacophony of different flavours that didn’t gel well together and the price was high. The restaurant staff were friendly and spoke perfect English and they have an English menu available. The restaurant is cosy although the decor is a little dated.

Visited this place based on the good reviews but am now very confused and genuinely question their authenticity. The actual cafe is grubby, tables not clean, food on floor etc. The staff are not particularly friendly and just seem manic without actually being effective. We ordered the most extortionately priced eggs and bacon on sourdough we have ever seen and after waiting 50 minutes enquired where it was. The Waitress walked off to ‘check’ and never bother to return. Nice! 15 minutes later it arrived - COLD. It was basically a rock hard piece of dry, cold sourdough with some bacon and slimy rocket strewn all over it with a bit of pesto splattered here and there - with 2 orange juices (not fresh but from a container) - for almost £50! Absolutely awful. Literally the worst ‘brunch’ i have ever had. Fact.

Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere made for a great brunch. Ordered the blueberry pancakes, that looked visually appetizing, and the taste lived up to that. Great location, not far from the train station, so it's easy to get to. Can definitely recommend for people looking for a cozy brunch spot, with great options.

We passed this place every day and it was always busy. We were staying at the Hotel Kong Arthur just around the corner and stopped here for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious- we sat outside , kept dry by the canopy (raining) and watched the World go by. We expected small portions and got great portions and so struggled to eat it all. They do vegan and cater for special diets. The only small thing is the tables are pretty small to fit everything on. So impressed were going back to see if we can get in for dinner tonight

I was very disappointed with my visit to Kalaset, unfortunately, as the place looked good. First of all we waited for an hour and 15 minutes in total until we got our food including drinks (we were two people). They were clearly understaffed but we did not get warned beforehand of potential wait. Once the food arrives I get even more disappointed since my pancakes are burnt on the other side. I know I should have told the staff about this but they did not ask us once how the food was and I simply didn’t want to bother anymore. I might have been unlucky but unfortunately I will not go there again.

We had dinner here our first night in Copenhagen as we were jetlagged and this restaurant was right across the street from our hotel. Casual place - we sat outside and ordered at the bar inside - but we were pleasantly surprised by the food! We had 5 tapas dishes shared between 3 people and it was the perfect amount. The meat dishes were probably good too but we stuck with vegan and vegetarian - gnocchi and the burrata salad were biggest hits. I would definitely recommend for families/friends who want to share dishes!

Passed this cafe a number of times and it was always really busy. Seating outside and inside. We went for brunch. There is a good selection of eggs and also various pancakes . We tried the poached egg on pancakes. The pancakes were really good and plentiful. The menu listed hollandaise with this but it came with a herb sauce and some maple syrup - which was fine but not expected. The seating is in the basement with windows at street level so I'd say parts of the cafe are quite dimly lit but there are tables just below the windows which are brighter.

Stopped in for some breakfast and was really impressed. This place is seriously busy and you can see why. Eggs, bacon and sourdough was a full plate which kept me going sightseeing for a full day. Well done folks!!

I have been in this lovely place many times and I never get tired of it. With your friends or your beloved ones, breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails, Kalaset has always the perfect deal! A warm cuddle surrounded by the authentic “hyggeligt” danish atmosphere. The food plates are great! I can definitely recommend the “avocado and halloumi sandwich” and the “pancakes with raspberry jam and walnuts”. I will come back soon! :)

We stayed at the Kong Arthur Hotel down the street. Very pleasant restaurant. We sat outside. If you wanted to sit inside, you had to show proof of covid vaccination. They have a good menu with a variety of options from brunch to burgers. We got a brunch type plate called Mormor that was like a buffet on a plate. Even had a smoothie shot. They have an interesting deal w/ lunch where you can get 2 dishes and pancakes. I'd definitely go again if I'm ever in Copenhagen.

We stayed across the street in Ibsen hotel and went down to Kalaset a lot at our stay. SUPER kind staff! I would say they make one of the best coffees in town and the brunch and evening menu is so good. They also have an Italian happy hour which includes 2 of the same cocktails (selected ones) for 95,-. Next time we are back in Copenhagen I would definitely come back.

Excellent for a brunch. You will be singing the praises when you leave! Booked 24h in advance for a Saturday brunch, seated right away and was eating within 15 minutes. The options for vegetarian and vegan options were excellent, food was incredible. Lots of choice and the coffee did not disappoint. No negatives, but note that there is no table service so you have to order at the bar, wait for your coffee at the bar too.
