We stopped here on our last morning before flying home. So glad we made the trip back into the city as the pastries here are so good.
We both had the delicious cinnamon rolls and managed to eat in with a hot drink - perfect on a wet and chilly day.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable.
The bakery is small and gets a bit cramped with both locals and tourists coming in for sugary treats and bread.
There are a few seats but space is limited.

We visited thanks to seeing it on Instagram and hearing it was the oldest bakery in town. Clearly, it is a tourist hot-spot with a constant flow of people in and out. However, it smelt incredibly, and the food was well worth the walk.
We had a cinnamon bun, a cardimon bun, a tea, and a juice. Copenhagen is overall expensive, but here felt value for the tase.
It is a very small place with limited seating ( low fabric stools and tables indoors and a couple of tables and chairs outside) aimed at being a bakery and not a cafe.
High , uneven high steps to enter ( I say this as we saw a few people trip/misstep).
Personally, I struggled to see clear signage and pricing for items in the window (not 10p% what was what), although drinks menu was clear on the wall.
From what we saw and experienced, the staff were all patient and helpful, i tried in Danish, and they helped and thankfully clarified in English.
I've read a few reviews about the staff being blunt/ surly, from what we saw they were mostly just being 'danish' (reserved and functional) constantly busy refilling trays & makign drinks whilst they were being photographed, questioned (or gawked at by people who walked in took photos and left ) as well as serving a flowing que of people many of whom expected them to work immediately in English.
We would definitely visit again to try more of the stunning looking and smelling pastry treats.

This place is THE institution in central Copenhagen. Daily specials a day general high quality baked goods make this place the ideal stopover for a snack or a treat. Or to take some baked goods home. Went there almost daily when I was an exchange student, returned in August 2022 and was delighted to see that everything is still as wonderful as it was. When I’m Copenhagen, treat yourself to a treat from here. With cinnamon!

Everything about this place is to die for. The smells, the aesthetics, the service and, obviously, the food, are all perfect. We got the basic cinnamon rolls, croissants, coffee and a few other baked goods. Each item we got was as good as I’ve ever had. The croissants are Paris good! There was a bit of a line out the door but it moved fast and it was so worth the wait. Go now!

The softest and tastiest cardamom pastry I've ever had. This bakery has a wide selection of pastry and it was quite hard to choose. All the pastry seemed fresh and soft like straight from the oven, even thoigh we went there right before noon. Would highly recommend to try!

Heard about this place before we booked. Everything in Copenhagen is extremely expensive but if you want the full Danish experience then definitely pay a visit. We came quite late in the afternoon so limited range but got a selection of pastries and eat by the side of the nearby lake. It was so good we joked that we didn't have time to take any photos! Sorry!

I could have eaten 5 of those cardamon buns in a row, except I did not want to gain more weight than I already did during the pandemic. The buns were moist, perfectly seasons and, most important, fresh. Absolutely worth a small detour.

It’s an excellent cafeteria! I came with mum and we were so surprised how good amazing is it.
We bought some coffee and some bakery and it was amazing and for a good price.
We ate in the place but you can also take away because the place is very small and only a few people can fit.
The girls were so friendly and welcoming.
In short, a nice experience. I really recommend this!!

Ordered a cinnamon bun and a chocolate milk which the former was warm, tasty, and freshly baked. There is very limited space inside and during busy periods this would be difficult to negotiate and would take a long time to be served. Would not describe it as either cheap or overly expensive, but maybe a little more expensive than anticipated.

We had seen this bakery on TV before visiting and upon hearing it was the oldest in Copenhagen we thought we would give it a try and we weren’t disappointed. We had two different types of Danish pastry and both were sublime. It was also, given the size of the pastries, very good value for money! If we got back to Copenhagen we will definitely be returning. It is also very close to the Latin district which is great to have a pastry and just soak up the buildings.

My daughter sent me Wednesday morning early to pick up one of their renowned cinnamon buns so that she could enjoy it when she arrived in Copenhagen, 10 years after studying here. Her moment of nostalgia was a treat for me! This bakery’s goods are all delicious and generous examples of Danish baking at its finest. Why go home?

We visited this wonderful little bakery for breakfast one morning and I have to say that the buns were the best we have ever tasted. My husband had the traditional cinnamon bun and I chose a similar bun with vanilla frosting. They were truly amazing!
You simply have to visit this place!

Arrived to Copenhagen on a pre-breakfast flight so went to find something close to the hotel that was "traditional". Stumbled upon this place about 5 minutes walk away and there was already a small queue outside so thought we would give it a chance.
The wait wasn't long and once in we ordered a bread roll with cheese, which was made to order, and a pasty each. Both were excellent, the bread being easily amongst the tastiest I've ever had and with fantastic texture.
The staff were lovely and the queue was only bigger when we left, I just wish we had planned better and bought some more rolls to take home with us.

This is a wonderful bakery in the heart of old Copenhagen. Known for their cinnamon buns, it is worth the visit. Their are a few tables to enjoy your treats and coffees are also available. Many independent bakeries hve closed in Denmark and are now part of a chain, so this is a special treat. Not to be missed!

SPB is an absolute MUST if you are in Copenhagen, even for a day. The best pastries and bread in the city and an institution. I went twice for breakfast during my 3 day stay - both times having a Kanelsnegl (Cinnamon Snail) and a hot drink. Cosy seating (although low to the ground so may not be suitable for all) and the staff are so so lovely. Relatively cheap as well! Pastry + coffee is no more than AUD$10
