Restaurant Italiano (in Italian: Ristorante Italiano) is the first of it’s kind in Copenhagen and is famous for its simple and delicious Italian food. Ristorante Italiano serves a range of high quality Italian food. Every day we prepare for our customers fresh homemade Italian bread, pizza bread, pasta and ice cream. Our restaurant was the first to serve pizza in Denmark - a proud tradition we have kept alive since 1952. In our restaurant we have two dining floors. The top floor holds up to 120 people and the basement can accommodate up to 100 people. The outside Summer dining area accommodates up to 200 people. We would be pleased to accommodate special events for you and your friends in the restaurant. The capacity is up to 100 persons and the opening hours can be customize to your full satisfaction up to 4am. Please contact us for further information.

This is quite an unassuming restaurant from the outside. In fact, we passed it by completely and booked a table at the restaurant opposite, but after reading the reviews for that place I then found and booked this one online.
The menu tells us that it is the oldest Italian in Copenhagen and the 1st restaurant in Denmark to serve pizza! Whether this is true or not, as a family of 4 with two teenagers, we loved everything about this place. It is very old school but it doesn't come across as cheesy, and we found the food to be excellent. We all had pasta (rather than pizza) and can say that the salmon linguine, the penne all'arrabiata, the seafood spaghetti and the lasagne were all really good. There was live music which was good fun (although perhaps not everyone's cup of tea) and the waiters were all fantastic. The meal came to about £125 but that included 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers and a grappa. I would very happily recommend this restaurant and would certainly go again.

I highly recommend this restaurant!!
If you are in Copenhagen and want to find an original Italian restaurant, this is the place to go!!! If you like traditionel Italian food, you will love this place!
The waiters here are real Italian (not fake Italian, like most other restaurants in CPH :(...) and the food and wine likewise 100% Italian!
Secondly, but also important, the service here is extremely freindly and they have a really relaxing humor and the nice Italian life attitude that all visitors will love.
This is the oldest Italian restaurant in Denmark and they live up to their name and reputation 100%
If I could give 6 stars it would be apropriate.

We passed this restaurant on the way to our Hotel and noticed the Qs of people waiting for a table and so on a quieter day we stopped by for lunch. They were doing a deal- any pizza or pasta for 98dkk (which is extremely reasonable for Copenhagen) . Two pizzas cost us just over £20 and they were delicious. They served it with a bowl of garlic you could add- wow. Still smelling garlic on me now! The service was great and I would highly recommend this place- especially if they are doing a deal.

One is quickly captivated by the good "Italian" charm and live music. But the price is high, the quantity is small and if they served their food in Italy, Carabinieri would put the chef in jail right away. The only thing you can order without being disappointed is their pizza, but just because the hosts are Italian you should not count on an Italian food experience.

We went here on our last night in Copenhagen, the city itself is quite expensive to eat out in so we had been heading to supermarkets and food halls and stuff but on the last night said we would pop out somewhere. We checked online and the restaurant said they didnt have a table to 9pm but we chanced a walk in at 7 and got a table quite quickly. They seem to seat all the English speakers together I guess to ensure the correct wait staff are assigned which is helpful. We ordered the trio of bruschetta's to share, it was delicious and definitely should be shared as portion is quiet big. We both got pizzas for mains and were happy almost managed to finish them. We got limoncellos for desert as we were too full for any more food. It was a nice cosy little restaurant, tables are quite close together. They had two gentlemen playing music at intervals throughout the time we were there which was very cute. Would definitely venture there again and try the pasta next time but everyone seemed to be clearing their platers.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendliest staff! We sat down on a cozy 2 seater down stairs in the restaurant. The drinks and food selection were brilliant - definitely something for everyone on the menu. We enjoyed a pizza and pasta dish, they were fabulous. I was extremely happy to be brought a large portion of parmesan to put on my pasta, my friend was happy to have the choice to put garlic or chilli oil on her pizza. The food and drinks arrived to our table so quickly, in the height of a Friday night we were impressed! We were glad to have booked a table it was so busy! The atmosphere was the best I have ever come across. For me, this restaurant has so much character and I would highly recommend visiting!
Note: We come from a country where COVID restrictions are still in place, keep in mind tables are close together and this may be overwhelming for someone concerned with COVID, but don't let this stop you, there is a small selection of outdoor seating at this restaurant if you are concerned.

A wonderful italian restaurant in Copenhagen. The service was absolutely excellent!
We were 5 friends there for dinner and we had a great time.
A man namned Echo (not sure about the spelling) treated us like royalty and we were very happy och felt very much welcome.
The food and the atmosphere was very good and to top it all of we were entertainted by live italian music by two very nice gentelemen.

The food, service and ambience were all excellent here. Prompt, polite and courteous waiting staff. We had delicious complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start with excellent pre dinner cocktail, fantastic pasta all served hot and very quickly. Gorgeous low light restaurant with character and charm. We were seated inside on the ground level. Would highly recommend and would return here.

We were looking for a nice place for dinner for our family, including two teenagers, on a Saturday night. We started looking at 6pm that night, and we didn’t hold out much hope for finding anywhere good that had a table at such short notice. But we found Ristorante Italiano. The online booking system said they had a table at 9pm, and the menu and reviews looked good, so we booked.
Ristorante Italiano exceeded our expectations. We received a warm welcome, and the restaurant had a lovely buzzing atmosphere. We anticipated relatively slow service as they were so busy, but the food came faster than expected, was delicious, and our waiter was super helpful. We really enjoyed our meal and would recommend it. Thank you Ristorante Italiano!

Very atmospheric Italian restaurant. The environment was perfect. The food delicious, lobster soup, lasagne, and salmon tasty and well served. The sparking wine was also of good Italian quality. The waiter was very polite and very communicative. Finally the prices were also very good 😌 2 soups, 2 main dishes and a bottle of wine 650. Perfect choise

We were a group of 8, and ate outdoors. The food was tasty, I had the mussels starter, the steak main course and the tiramisu dessert. The service was very slow however, with large intervals between certain members of the groups getting their various courses.

My wife and I walked past the Ristorante Italiano which was bursting at the seams at lunch time. We felt like Italian food so decided to stop. This was when we realised that the restaurant was having a 98DKK daily special for Pasta and Pizza, giving us a feeling of dread as we though we just got sucked into a tourist trap disguised as a restaurant!
How wrong we were!! Even though there must have been over a hundred dinners with more people arriving we were seated straight away with our waitress really busy but not stopping her from being very friendly and attentive.
We ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and Cannelloni both arrived quite quickly and were fresh, hot and flavoursome. The Pizza base was freshly hand made, not too thick and not too thin, the pepperoni was spicy but not overbearing. It is definitely the best Pizza I have had in Copenhagen. The Cannelloni was also wonderful , the sauce was not bland as we have had at other restaurants and freshly prepared.
The restaurant has the distinction of being Copenhagen’s first Italian Restaurant, established in 1952 and by all indications still family owned and authentic.
Even though the restaurant was extremely busy it did not impact the quality of the service or food nor did we feel rushed to finish our meal and leave.
We highly recommend this restaurant.

We went as a group of 12 and being very small they were still willing to accommodate. All dishes were amazing including the pizza, lasagna, and ravioli. The mussels for an appetizer were also quite good. It can be quite loud with musicians walking around but i enjoyed and felt it added to the atmosphere

What do you expect in Copenhagen? We are not in Italy. The food was okay and the atmosphere was great. We sat outdoors. (I peeked in. indoors and it was lovely and more formal.) Atmosphere outside was lively and occasionally loud plus they had a singer stroll by with Italian favorites. We ordered grilled salmon, cooked medium. It arrived well done. We also ordered Spaghetti Bolognaise. it was a disappointment. Sort of tasteless no matter how much Parmesan Cheese we added. We had fun.

My wife and I have been to Ristorante Italiano the last three summers that we have been to Copenhagen. It's has a cosy atmosphere (inside), the standard of food is very high and the service is usually excellent. It's not expensive by Danish standards, but always dependable. My clear favourite is definitely their Spaghetti Alla Pescatora, which is superb. They also serve very good desserts. It's highly recommended and very centrally located.
