We came first for lunch, directed by our hotel when we asked for a recommendation for traditional Danish food, and liked it so much we returned for dinner. It's a pub style restaurant, fairly small, dark wood tables with bench seats, old style bar, pictures covering the walls, a piano player, friendly wait staff - the real deal. For lunch... More

Food was 6/7 out of 10 but the atmosphere was a 9........ everyone was so friendly, and there was a pianist playing numbers by the Beatles, Stones etc....it was great. We really liked the starter of Herring 3 ways, but were a bit underwhelmed by the mains. Nonetheless I would definitely return if I returned to Copenhagen.

A few months ago I wrote about a traditional restaurant in the same street, they har lost some of the atmosphere, so I decided to try this one - the next door neighbor. I had the pleasure of the Company of my nephew, his son and his wife, Amalie who is a seriously able Cook/Chef and writer of cookbooks. They... More

We were searching for something that was open a Sunday and stumbled across this little gem. Friendly staff, hearty meals, and cold beer on tap; all from a 1700's pub. What more do you need.

After initially being turned away without a reservation, my friend persevered and we managed to get a small table after a last-minute reservation cancellation. Very small yet cosy inside, the tables are crammed together and the menu adequate enough for anyone looking to sample the famous Danish smørrebrød for the first time. Food was simple but nice (which is what... More

Went here with two customers for Danish smørrebrød, beer and some coffee. Great atmosphere, cozy and raw at the same time. Food was great and good value for money. Would go there again and recommend anyone to go there for lunch.

It was a surprise to find such a place just in a search for herring. They not only do serve it, but are also famous for a curry type of it. But that's certainly not the end of the story. So called 'luxury plate', which they offered, contained, besides two types of herring we longed for cold-smoked salmon, chicken salad,... More

We were looking for a casual Danish meal and our hotel recommended Skindbuksen. The place is small but has a wonderful homey atmosphere. I ordered the shipmaster's stew and was served a huge portion of a very thick stew made of potatoes, vegetables and beef. My husband had a salmon appetizer and an entree called pan mix which was pieces... More

I found this by complete mistake and glad that I did. The food is reasonable priced and the portions are healthy. When we were in there was as many locals in as tourists. The bar has piano and while we were eating an guy jumped on and started playing some olj jaunty tunes. Better than your average muzac played on... More
