First impressions may put some off this restaurant, but please don't walk past. The entrance, just along from the Christianna arch, does not look like a typical restaurant, but walk in and up the graffiti covered stairwell and you will be pleasantly surprised. The staff are welcoming and have a lovely way about them. Within a few minutes we were... More

A highlight on my trip to Copenhagen was not just Christiania itself, but this special little restaurant. Up some suspicious looking steps, hidden behind a heavily graffitied corrugated metal door is Spiseloppen (apparently meaning 'The Eating/Hungry Flea' in Danish). The menu changes every week and is hand written by the chef and his team (often a highly regarded visiting chef... More

The vegetarian menu never fails to impress. Cozy restaurant, friendly servers and good prices. Good wine selection. The meat dishes are also great

This was probably the best meal I had in Copenhagen. We came at the suggestion of a friend and certainly weren't disappointed. The food was very well-presented and tasty (and higher-end as far as menus go) but at a very reasonable price (at least by the standards of Copenhagen, where you could certainly pay a lot more for a lot... We ate at this restaurant following a recommendation from my partner who'd enjoyed a meal here a few years ago. Wow! This place didn't disappoint. The food was absolutely incredible, one of the best steaks I'd ever had! Pricing of food no different from other places in Copenhagen, an expensive city - but this meal was well worth the money,... Place seemed to be full all the evening. Good service they had two big groups at the same time. Interesting location I'm Christiania. Very delicious food. Enjoyed! Definitely recommend!

This restaurant was recommended to us with the warning, it's hard to find. That is an understatement. You have to walk into a park (full of old hippies) and keep an eye peeled for a sign on a door; then go upstairs (very sketchy looking). Once inside it's a nice place, pleasant atmosphere, good service and very good food.

loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, hiring all the staff from the people living in the free city of Christiania, loved the food, everything was fresh, organic and super tasty, and the service was great, definatly will eat again there :)

The exterior and entrance look like a squatters building, but persevere! This is a very nice restaurant. The meals definitely more refined than pub food.

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighborhood Profile
Christianshavn
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
