A restaurant full of locals - and us. We had the set lunch, delicious food, beautifully presented and served. It was a lovely day so we ate outside overlooking the water. Highly recommended.

We followed a recommendation for Kanalen in a guide book for our first meal in Copenhagen and we certainly were not disappointed. The setting by the canal was beautiful and the food was elegantly presented and really tasty. The staff looked after us so well, explaining each dish and bringing lots of little extras and titbits. For a real experience... More

Went here to celebrate our parents 70+70 birthdays. A few in the party had food allergy/intolerance (gluten, milk, shellfish, soya to mention a few), so we e-mailed them a list beforehand to check if they could manage, and we all ended up getting exellent food. Great to see that the kitchen managed to present the allergy friendly food in such... More

we tried when passing to make an evening reservation, how ever it was full, but the very nice lady promised to see what she could do and phone back. 10 minutes later she had sorted it out, and we went for a real treat in a very cosy setting by one of the canals on Christianshavn. we were served by... Nice location, nice little cosy room with nice view on a little harbour. The quality of the food was OK but nothing exceptional. I had the duck: the meat in itself was good, but: - the quantity was ridiculously low - as the cherries in the plate were cold, the whole was almost cold. The desert (strawberries) was the best.... Reluctantly, I give only three stars to this place. We went here for our anniversary as this was the place we celebrated our marriage many years ago. It is superbly situated one of Copenhagens canals, and on a summer's evening nothing beats it. The Christianshavn area, the boats, the water, the tourists. It oozes of good times. The four of... Ate here in a group of twenty. The menu choices were limited but the quality of the food was good. Was a trial to order wine, they were out of our first two choices, and the service was a little slow. But qulity was good and the outside atmosphere was very nice.

We went on a sunny and warm Friday night and we really enjoyed sitting in the patio by the canal. The view was very nice. Our reservation was at 6 pm and so we were the first and only guests in the restaurant Thus the service was very fast. The servers were nice and professional. They brought us some snacks... More

Really lovely little restaurant. Had to keep calling the waiter, so service could have been better. Food was very good though but was lacking a bit in seasoning. We had the cod. Location is awesome. The building looks a bit rough on the outside but on the inside it's quality. A bit pricey but fair enough given the location a... More

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighborhood Profile
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
