I honestly can't see any reasons why you should eat elsewhere when in Copenhagen. This is a restaurant with excellent food and the best of all staff.

A quite busy little restaurant, with old-fashioned decor and a wonderful staff. We had a classic lunch of Danish open-faced sandwiches, pilsner and snaps. Totally delicious.
The owners are onsite and will proudly show you pictures that document the restaurant history back to 1902. The space is very exclusive so you’ll need a reservation on many days. But when you do get a table….WOW!!! Everything tastes amazing and the portions are...just incredible. The staff will explain the “proper” way to enjoy their national treasures and will enthusiastically help you enjoy the experience!More
Great service from waiters who one would think were still working at the restaurant since it first opened (which I believe was around the year 1780). During this Christmas, only one menu to choose from - but it was very good and we went away...absolutely stuffed! First we got 3 different kinds of herring, a great start to the meal. Especially with the delicious rye bread. Then a huge platter with salmon, battered fish, porkbelly, chicken salat, beef - and probably a lot of other toppings I am forgetting. The atmosphere was amazing. Different groups of danish people standing up, doing short speeches, shouting out Skål and singing drinking-songs. I guess this is a thing around Christmas, and not something to expect on a dull Wednesday in January :) ...but like with most things in Denmark - it was certainly not cheap!More
Hej einars. Thank You for a wonderful review. Everyone at Cafe Sorgenfri are doing their absolutely best - every day Sincerely yours Cafe Sorgenfri
Very good and genuine place for smorrebröd, highly recommended and a must when in Copenhagen. Extra plus to a super staff who managed to find us a table despite no advance booking!
Fabulous chicken salad open sandwich. So good we will return before we go home from our weekend. Great ambiance.
Hi Siobhant. Thank you very much for taking the time, to write a review, of your visit to Cafe Sorgenfri. We are always very pleased, when our guests like what they get. We hope to see you back some time. Sincerely yours Cafe Sorgenfri
The cafe has a wonderful ambience with its dark wood-panelling. The service is considerate and rapid. We ate Smorrebrod, the traditional Danish open sandwiches, and there was an excellent choice. My own two were curried herring with egg, and fillet of plaice with shrimp. These...are delivered on a large platter and you assemble them yourself, which allows some choice, for example in the amount of mayonnaise you put on the food. All was washed down by a glass of Danish beer. A superb lunch!More

Hi regina. Thank for very much for your very kind words. To tell You the truth - we agree. Hope to see you again some day. Sincerely yours Cafe Sorgenfri
Entering Cafe Sorgenfri from the street in Copenhagen's Latin quarter is like using a time machine! The extremely cozy interior has hardly been changed since the 20's, and the food is like grandma made it (meaning great!). We had a typical Danish Christmas lunch with...herring, open sandwiches, roast pork, etc. Everything is obviously homemade and the quality (and quantity) is great. The staff is kind, humorous and attentive. Tourists visiting Copenhagen in December should try this Christmas lunch!!!More

It can not be better if you want to spend time with your collegues for the purpose of getting to know them better, eating and drinking well and and at last building company culture. The atmosphere of the cafe is unique, food like homemade, beer...real danish taste. At last the aquavitt makes you sing and be happy. Just remember to book well ahead of your visit. We will come back!!!More

Just lovin’it. Original cafe with tons of history and have been serving tons of pork and frikadeller. And then again some akevitt. Just as visiting your closest family. Smiling and serving food and drinks with a very good and reliable attitude. It’s a must. Order...table weeks in advance. Busy. Not in the late hours (17-19) Vel bekomme.More

We had a brief visit to Copenhagen and our driver/guide recommended this little place for a sampling of local dishes, especially Smorrebrod, which are the local open face sandwiches. Service was fast and friendly, and the food excellent. We suggest the liver pate with bacon...and mushrooms, the pork roast, all served with traditional sides, like beets and onions, and a little Aquavit on the side! There is a very confined menu ( but just what we were looking for) This is NOT good for big groups, small children, or the claustrophobic. But, worth a try!More

I've visited this place with few friends. We wanted to try typical food and that was a really good choice to go there but once we got there the waitress wasn't very nice. Was tyring to convince one of us to change the meal just...because the rest was having the same food. Apart from that, it was danish food at reasonable price.More
