The food, the waiters, the place... 100% good. You only need to try once to know this is the best place to eat in Copenhagen!

I have been to this restaurant many times. I usually took my friends here visiting from abroad, to taste danish food. The service has always been arrogant and very slow to take orders, but this is the norm in Denmark. My last experience though, couldn't...weigh up with the food's quality because... we got thrown out. The reason was because I told the waiter off his unwelcoming and racist attitude over my Turkish friends. And this comment I can wage for 100%, as I can compare to the other times I had friends who were Norwegian or British. I know how crowded the place is, so we deliberately went at 2pm, and as expected there were on 2 other persons, all tables were empty, expect for 2 that was laid out with cutlery. So naturally we went to pick the table for 4. We did wait a bit by the door, as usually they seat you. But because the waiter was busy talking to his colleagues - even though he glanced at us, I took the decision to go to the table, as there was no one else waiting. Big mistake nr. 1, the waiter got very angry to us, telling me we can't just sit. I told him - politely -, he seemed to busy to seat us, so I went in. Then from the whole place, we got a table by the toilet entrance. My friends tried to communicate in English, and wanted some menus, which didn't go well with the waiter, he was impatient. So I just did the next mistake, which was to ask him to speak to us politely, specially when there are guests from abroad, that don't understand why he is talking down to them - as they couldn't follow the whole conversation. On this, the waiter grab the menu back from my hand, and told us that we won't be served. Now it's possible that we got started on a bad foot, and most probably this restaurant doesn't care about customers like me, as they live on local lunch eaters, but ethically I find this kind of behaviour irresponsible and unacceptable in the restaurant business. We did absolutely nothing wrong, we just asked to be treated respectfully.More

The cafe has a wonderful ambience with its dark wood-panelling. The service is considerate and rapid. We ate Smorrebrod, the traditional Danish open sandwiches, and there was an excellent choice. My own two were curried herring with egg, and fillet of plaice with shrimp. These...are delivered on a large platter and you assemble them yourself, which allows some choice, for example in the amount of mayonnaise you put on the food. All was washed down by a glass of Danish beer. A superb lunch!More

Entering Cafe Sorgenfri from the street in Copenhagen's Latin quarter is like using a time machine! The extremely cozy interior has hardly been changed since the 20's, and the food is like grandma made it (meaning great!). We had a typical Danish Christmas lunch with...herring, open sandwiches, roast pork, etc. Everything is obviously homemade and the quality (and quantity) is great. The staff is kind, humorous and attentive. Tourists visiting Copenhagen in December should try this Christmas lunch!!!More

Smiling and serving food and drinks with a very good and reliable attitude. It’s a must. Order...table weeks in advance. Busy. Not in the late hours (17-19) Vel bekomme.More

We had a brief visit to Copenhagen and our driver/guide recommended this little place for a sampling of local dishes, especially Smorrebrod, which are the local open face sandwiches. Service was fast and friendly, and the food excellent. We suggest the liver pate with bacon...and mushrooms, the pork roast, all served with traditional sides, like beets and onions, and a little Aquavit on the side! There is a very confined menu ( but just what we were looking for) This is NOT good for big groups, small children, or the claustrophobic. But, worth a try!More
