This was my first visit to Restaurant Kronborg, but definitely not the last one. If you like traditional Danish smørrebrød, this is one of the top places in Copenhagen. The food is served by competent and polite waiters and the atmosphere in the restaurant is casual but with a touch of conservatism, which I like.

This small restaurant has a lot of good features such as pleasant staff, cozy atmosphere and delicious food (as far as tasted). However, the menu is weird as the only appetizers (6) are ALL herring dishes and there were no salads, no soups, no side dishes and no veggies. Huh? Though quite hungry, I was only able to order an entrée (Skagen Toast, which was superb) and finally resorted against my habit to ordering a dessert (apple cake, also very tasty) just to feel full. Six herring apps and no other app or side choices? Why?

We had a wonderful lunch at this lovely traditional restaurant. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and the service throughout was friendly with our waiter happy to spend time talking us through the tradition of smorrebrod, answering our questions and helping us with recommendations. We picked 2 plates each - old-fashioned pickled herring, Skagen toast (prawns), potato salad with bacon and Danish meatballs. Portions are generous and the rye bread is absolutely delicious - if we hadn’t kept eating the extra bread in the basket we might have had room for dessert! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and was very busy so definitely a good idea to book. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again if we return to Copenhagen.

Book this place for a Christmas lunch. I was informed they would have a vegetarian meal ends up they didn’t and my partner had to skip a course and got two courses the same but different veggies. They ended up charging the same price as if he had the full meal. The waiter doesn’t inform you about the different options but instead just says you are having the Christmas meal so you pay the most expensive price. Not worth the price and it feels like a scam.

Traditional Danish open faced sandwiches, with a wide range of cold and warm options. We ordered 2 of each: Herring with onions and capers Smoked Salmon Gravlax (a type of fish) with Shrimps Danish meatballs Except for the Smoked Salmon which came with white bread, the rest came with the traditional rye served on the side. The rye bread is heavy and not something I would like to eat on its own but somehow it goes perfectly with the dishes. I didn't have a good experience with raw herring in Amsterdam previously and was hesitant to try but gotta say this smoked version is much better. Of the 4 I enjoyed the Gravlax the most. First it's warm, then it's not as salty, and the fish and shrimp combi was just perfect.  I also tried their Schnapps, contrary to the Killepitsch, this is had alongside the meal but being the lousy drinker, I think the combi of a 40% Schnapps and 5% Royal Xmas Carlsberg (a special version of their Pilsner during winter) kind of got to me. Even though it was just a shot, the waiter did make it a point to fill it to the brim, plus I tasted 2 others before this final one, so it's almost 1.5 shots of Schnapps. For desserts, we had the Rice Pudding, which is a special Christmas dessert that most families make for Christmas celebrations. Sweet and cold, it's made of boiled rice to a gooey texture, topped with almond silvers and hot cherry sauce served on the side. The locals have it with port wine so we had a small mini glass of it too, for the experience, but I could only manage 3 sips. A sweet ending to a heavy meal, by the time we finished, it was almost 5pm and needless to say, I had no space for dinner.

We were back at restaurant Kronborg on Thursday. September, and we got the very best service from the lovely waiters, and of course the delicious butter bread. This time we had the two youngest of our grandchildren with us, they were allowed to share tartelettes, and they were served on two plates. We all felt it was a wonderful experience - thanks for that. We will of course return the next time we are in Copenhagen

Went here for lunch after a day of shopping downtown (only a couple blocks over from Stroget). The restaurant is very charming, service was friendly and quick. Great selection of smorrebrod. This ended up being the best smorrebrod we had the entire trip. Definitely worth checking out! Meals are served on Royal Copenhagen dishes so you really feel like you are getting the Danish experience here.

Accommodating service. We got the herring of the day, which was ram's onion herring, salmon with scrambled eggs and chicken salad. All the food was second to none and couldn't put a finger on anything. The only complaint was that you couldn't get a regular lager (Carlsberg/Tuborg) on tap. However, it was in a bottle. There was Nørrebro's brewery pilsner, which is a little too wheaty for the delicious food. Clear recommendation from here 👍🙏

It is a very nice, sober, but typical restaurant, serving excellent fish and meat dishes at affordable prices. The kitchen offers excellent herring. Special thanks to the very efficient and courteous waiters.

Wonderful food and service in this busy and bustling city centre restaurant. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent - I enjoyed the pan-fried plaice with prawns and dillnaise and the roast beef with fried egg pickled cucumber and soft fried onions. Have a shot of aquavit for digestion!

Had a great dinner experience of a traditional Danish cuisine today. I had heard a lot about this place and (unluckily) tried to get a table as a walk-in the prior day. However, the place was fully booked and so decided to reserve a spot for today. The staff was helpful in arranging for a booking. Coming to the menu, the pan fried herring and the salmon balls were both excellent! The fennel aquavit paired amazingly well with the herring. Our waiter Anas (not sure if I spelt it correctly), was very helpful, sharp and quite entertaining, and helped us with the different items on the menu, especially for special dietary requirements for my spouse. The food and service made the visit a memorable one. Will definitely visit next time I am in Copenhagen to try out the other herring smørrebrød's on the menu.

We had dinner on the Pride day, when they only served the dedicated menu. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, everybody crammed in a basement with a view on the kitchen and curved roofs. Food has both a refined and hearty taste, which I think is the essential traditional cuisine. No overly fat dishes, actually the best was the fresh salmon and seabass(?) with chopped apple. Service was very present and fast, despite the restaurant being full. I thought it was slightly overpriced, given that it was a fixed menu and the cuisine was competent but not overly complicated or abundant. Desserts were slightly disappointing. Highly recommended generally, had a very true and honest feeling.

It must be a nice place. But we didn't experience that, because we were placed in a 'party room' in the backyard. A completely charmless office space with lousy acoustics, folding tables and tacky banquet chairs. Only made temporarily to get as many Christmas lunches as possible through. Which was emphasized by the ultra-precisely measured portions of all the food. People sat and munched on the dry bread to get fairly full. The only positive was the service. They did their part to compensate for the surroundings. But one sensed that all the guests just wanted to finish and leave the place again. So if your company is 'offered' the room in the backyard, go again immediately.

Wauw, I had Christiansøsild and smoked eel - the best ever smoked eel I've tasted! The rest of the party couldn't get their arms down.... Drinks somewhat pricey however acceptable. Don't miss out on this place ;o)

We were so impressed with this very lovely cosey restaurant. We had the lunch sharing platter - an incredibly delicious array of fish dishes, thick slices of succulent pork, red cabbage and gerkins, plenty of bread and butter and flavoursome cheese with plum condiment. The food was cooked perfectly, presented beautifully and tasted delicious. And the service was attentive. We sat downstairs in the beautiful and stylish restraurant, decorated with many sea inspired pictures, reflecting Copenhagen's heritage. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant and would definitely return. An amazing experience!
