Ate here with friends on a Sunday night . Very busy so would advise booking. Beer was fresh and the Food was great , had the duck while my friends had a stew type meal. The reason it gets a 4 is the waitress was...a bit offhand and dismissive but the rest of the staff were very friendlyMore

Wholesome mummas cooking! Der Lille Apotek is a delightful wee underground restaurant which scarves good wholesome meals to warm the weary traveler. The roast pork is their specialty. I found it super tasty although a touch dry. They serve plenty of thick gravy and the...crackling is perfectly crisp. Theres plenty of potatoes and a bit of sauerkraut. My husband had the stew. It was like pot luck with baked beans and sausages, a bit of pork loin, bacon all popped in a casserole dish. It was not my thing but he enjoyed it. The meals are pretty hardy so not many desserts are served. We decided to try their rhubarb and it was delicious. Tart rhubarb layer with a bit of muesli and nuts, topped with loads of whipped cream. The staff are friendly and happy to share a story about the restaurant and it’s famous patrons. Don’t be fooled how tiny it looks. There are at least 3 rooms hidden away downstairs and it seats close to 100. If you are claustrophobic this might freak you out. Ask for a window seat. Definitely worth a visit!More

Went with work, had the most unpleasant dark haired waitress with a bad attitude. If it wouldn’t have been for her, the evening would be swell as the others were really pleasant. Good food!

We enjoyed a fabulous meal at this quaint and historical restaurant. My husband found some delicious vegetarian options and I enjoyed the roasted pork dish. The appetizer and dessert was amazing as well. The atmosphere and service was wonderful. I recommend making an effort to...eat here if you travel to Copenhagen.More

Very good food. No way to say if it's authentic Danish. One has to go by what one is told. Excellent service, quick too. The fried herring was nice. Apple cake, not so sure.

We oved this restaurant! 'Det Lille Apotek' is a little gem, tucked away on a quiet street well away from the main tourist footfall, yet still in central Copenhagen. ‘Det Lille Apotek’ (which translates as ‘The Little Pharmacy’) is said to be Copenhagen’s oldest restaurant,...dating back to 1720. Prior to that it was a little chemist’s shop, dispensing remedies of various kinds , and all manner of advice, to ailing locals. What makes the restaurant even more notable is that it was frequented by the well-known writer Hans Christian Anderson, and also Sren Kierkegaard and other Danish artists. The restaurant interiors are beautiful. Dining takes place in a number of separate low-ceilinged rooms, lit by old petroleum lamps. Apparently the decor of these rooms hasn’t changed much for over 150 years. They are beautifully and traditionally decorated, with exquisite paintings, old books, and ornamental plates, complimented by sage green and crimson red walls. Old leaded window panes with motifs of forest gods and nymphs compliment the extremely elegant setting. These rooms are slightly lower than ground level, so are regarded as basement rooms. The restaurant also has seating outside, but you miss a major aspect of the traditional charm of this old and historic restaurant if you are not seated inside. In keeping with the traditional setting, the restaurant serves many traditi0onal Danish dishes, some named after its famous patrons, others based on old traditional Danish recipes. On the menu you will also find delicious biksek food, wiener schnitzel, roast duck with browned potatoes and the famous Apotekergryde. Our waitress was charming, amusing, observant, and informative, without being intrusive or overbearing. Our reservation had been made online, and someone at the the restaurant had noticed that one of our party was American, so the little Danish and US flags which graced the table were a delightful touch. She also acknowledged that it was a birthday celebration, and warmly welcomed us as we marked that occasion. Our table, by one of the stained glass windows, was beautifully laid, with the flags as the centrepiece. The waitress carefully explained the menu, especially the Danish specialties. We ordered the following: Roast Pork served with boiled and sugar-browned potatoes, pickled red cabbage, and cream gravy (Kr205); Old-fashioned Roast Duck with sugar-browned and boiled potatoes, pickled cabbage, and gravy (Kr218) Wiener schnitzel, 200 grams of veal thighs with “Viennese boy”, peas, potatoes, and sauce (Kr219). Each of the dishes we had ordered were outstanding - fresh, full of flavour, and totally delicious. The servings were huge! The dishes were served on two platters which were on raised stands in the centre of the table. The platters kept the food superbly warmed; they were actually ideal for sharing. The sugar-browned potatoes were sensational. The veal was tender and succulent, definitely veal rather than yearling beef which is often erroneously served. The duck was perfectly roasted, with crispy skin, and the pork was tender and moist. The accompanying vegetables were tasty, and the sauces full of flavour. We had a leisurely meal and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. It’s not outrageously expensive; the main dishes were around GBP £26.00, which was very reasonable for the huge portions served and the high quality of the food. With such huge servings we had no room for dessert; however, the charming waitress brought us some complimentary shots of her Rhubarb Schnapps. It was a lovely touch to a beautiful meal. The restaurant was busy with locals, confirming its ongoing popularity. The nearest landmark to the restaurant is the Round Tower, a five minute walk away. It’s a hidden gem, and one we will definitely return to if ever we revisit Copenhagen.More

Entering the restaurant is to take a long step back in time as the interior is so delightfully old-fashioned. This is a genuine pearl of an establishment. We can heartily recommend the classic Danish open-faced sandwiches for lunch, accompanied by pilsner and snaps.

We ordered two starters, one of halibut (hellefisk) and other of salmon tartar (laksetatar). And only one main course: half chicken roasted (1/2 kylling), it was a big portion more than enough for two people. All very good. To drink we ordered 2 glasses of...white wine, that was a Chardonnay, but we noticed a strange smell / taste, and asked for another kind of wine. Then the kind waiter (Alexander) served us a very good Riesling. We were not charged for the first wine. For dessert we shared rabarbertrifli (a glass of sour rhubarb jam with whipped cream). This is one of the best restaurants we've ever been too. The food is delicious, especially the marinated Hering. The staff is so friendly. It's a high class restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We've been there on Thursday and directly booked a table for Saturday....We highly recommend this restaurant. But you have to book a table in advance.More

From 1720 -2022.. Here you will still find the Danish classic open sandwiches and traditional dishes. In Old school decor , with attentive and charming service. For lunch I highly recommend the "fiskefile" battered fish sandwish with shrimps. It's the perfect introduction to the Danish...cuisine for any newbies and firstimers. Wash it down with a cold beer and a "Snaps" 40 % Vol. + if you're feeling brave.More

We had a selection of smørrebrød in this old and charming place right in the city center. I loved the decour and the plates on which the delicious food was served. Prices and portions were also good in comparison to other smørrebrød places in CPH....All the waiters were super nice and detail-oriented, we were never missing anhything. They also have a very good gluten-free beer (and made sure I had delicious gf bread for my smørrebrød). Will definitely come again!More

WOW!!! What a beautiful traditional Danish restaurant. We ate here on 2 evenings. The first night we booked and had the taster menu, it was truly wonderful with great choice and nice to sample tradition Danish food. The second night we didn’t book so turned...up on the off chance we could get a table. Initially we were told there was no room but as we were leaving the lovely waitress shouted down the street to is that she had a table. Really impressed with her service. We had an amazing evening and would highly recommend this place. It is a little pricy but you get what you pay for- quality food and plenty of it.More
