This has since our first visit 4 years ago been our must visit restaurant when in Rethymnon. Great service, great menu and great wine list. This time was no exception, the lamb was the best I've ever eaten, and I've had my share of lamb. You will not regret a visit here, for couples on a romantic evening or as... More

Great "garden" to eat on, extremely friendly staff, good wine list, and great food Although by Crete standards this is at the expensive end (€25 per head) its great to get away from the standards of souvlaki, greek salad etc. the menu is creative and has a modern twist to traditional cuisine HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

A perfect little oasis away from the mid dat heat. We had beef salad, North African style chicken and lamb shank with mash. I tasted all three and they were cooked perfectly. Fabulous service, great wine, lovely setting, not rushed. Please review trip advisor or other rating website before booking rethymnon restaurants as not all are as good or honest... More

It's a beautiful restaurant particularly at night with its attractive lighting and tiered layout. You feel it's a bit special just being escorted to your table by the lady greeter at the entrance. The food and wines are excellent and whilst the price can add up you can also eat reasonably cheaply as the menu is quite varied. It always feels like your... Fantastic venue! Sitting under the trees being served a very well prepared menu from start to finish. Drinks of high quality followed by perfectly cooked dishes (Tenderloin cooked to perfection) and a nice dessert menu. We are likely going back already later this week! (Side note - very fresh/new atmosphere, toilets better than in the hotel) All in all -... More

The resturant was recommended by the hotel. A beautiful resturant in the old city, very lovely atmosphere and very good food. The variety is a mix of traditional and international cuisine. Highly recommended.

We stayed a week in Rethymnon, trying different restaurants each night and Alana was the best. Cretan food is already delicious and Alana seemed to just raise the bar. The lovely courtyard setting under the trees is very inviting. It was a good sign that the place was filled with locals. We managed to get a table without reservation, although... More

My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant this evening, no reservation, we just wandered in. The restaurant was very busy but despite this the staff were able to get a table for us almost straight away. The surroundings are beautiful, we were seated near to the bar in the courtyard with the trees providing a lovely canopy. The staff were... More

Lovely atmospheric setting, waiting staff attentive and helpful and most importantly delicious food. We had the cold meat starter to share, which was (standard Cretan portions) huge! Fillet steak and beef cheek for main, both faultless. All this with a bottle of prosecco, bread and olives, cocktails and complimentary aperitif and pudding for €95... Would highly recommend for anyone visiting... More

Description
Alana Fresh food straight from the market. Specializing in grilled meat and Cretan cuisineThe restaurant's name derives from the old times. Alana was a place that kids of all the neighbourhood used to join together and play. It was first established in 1986 at the heart of the old town of Rethymno in Salaminos street , the central street under the castle of Fortezza and used to be one of the first tavernas in the area. With 200 seats it was the most crowdy place of the old town. In 2002 under new management, the place transformed to a more relaxing restaurant with 100 seats based on good quality products, attendive service and reasonable prices. Alana made a new beginning, changing totally the style of the restaurant, serving unique dishes of traditional fare in a relaxing setting full of flowers creating the perfect backdrop for a dining experience highlighted by inspired cuisine and impeccable service. The restaurant has attracted both tourists and local people drawn to the superb food, charm and hospitality of its owners. The restaurant serves healthy Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, using products sourced locally, cooked with care and it has been established as one of the best restaurants in town, based on the customers’ reviews. The extensive a la carte menu includes favourites like lamb with artichokes, Cretan smoked pork “apaki” and stuffed vine leaves, chargrilled steaks and beef burgers, grilled vegetables with feta cheese and oregano, wild greens with tomato, garlic and potatoes. Unique home made deserts are also offered.
