Had several amazing meals here, whilst enjoying the stunning surroundings. Perched on the cliffs above the beach, Saradari mesmerizes with its delicious flavors, sensual beats and sea views. The service is fantastic. Love their different styles prawns and calamari. Panos is excellent and made sure...to recommend the best dishes and provided great service!More

We visited Saratari for a special birthday dinner. Table was booked facing the sea (although the restaurant tried to seat us elsewhere). This is a wonderful, romantic location to be at sundown and the DIT out of the restaurant certainly matches its 5* location. But…...the food was ordinary and didn’t match up to the many taverna meals we’ve had on this holiday. It was ok but not worthy of more than 3 stars and nor was the service - functional and unfriendly - and therein lies the problem - if the staff don’t have an ethos of loving the customer and pride in what they do it is obvious. The food was prepared without love, delivered without love and the customer experience was “ok but we’d never recommend or come back - there’s so many better options throughout Crete.”More

Just eaten here. Great setting and good ambience. Service and food average. Gnocchi with truffle was rather unpleasant. Tagliatelle with salmon was greasy. Grilled squid was better than fried. Sushi roll was good. Shrimp pasta also good. Overall 3/5.

Picked 2 different wines, both out of stock so ordered a glass house wine to taste which was terrible, when asked to take away and ordered a soft drink instead they returned it to the table saying they wouldn't take it back. We weren't even...saying we wouldn't pay for it which we did when the overpriced bill arrived later!!! I ordered oysters which we were then told were no longer available, no other shellfish available either so decided to skip starters. The rib eye was ordered medium well and turned up blue, sent it back snd waited 15 mins for another to turn up the same as the first, no veg either with the steak or the fish dishes despite advertised as so. Decided to pay up and go to a local Taverna, would have complained to the manager but he was busy on his phone having a fag break. The setting is great but sadly the food and wine was terrible and the service by inexperienced staff not good, the owners don't seem to care.More

We have been visiting this quaintly located restaurant every summer over the last 7-8 years. It used to serve high quality traditional Cretan food which attracted locals as well as tourists. A material expansion of the dining areas was undertaken over the last 2-3 years....It has practically managed to triple the seating, albeit with the same kitchen. The unfortunate consequence of this 'upgrade' is that waiting times and food quality suffer, especially in the high season when the restaurant is full. After seating 30minutes passed for our order to be taken. The wait for the food was similar. I guess this was to be expected. One could argue that the nice views and setting of the restaurant sort of compensates for the reduced food quality, as it evolves from a traditional restaurant to a modern business. One dish in particular, was way off the mark, as we explained to our server that appeared concerned. All this was fine, until the new "Maitre-D' " arrived a few minutes later with an aggressive attitude to ask why we had comments about the dish, whereupon he proceeded to lecture us. It so happens that over the last 27-28 years we have travelled several times around the world and sort of know our stuff, at least in the culinary ways of the world… At any rate, we sincerely hope this type of “inflation” does not destroy this place, it would be sad to see it become another commercially overexploited locale, where quality and service is well behind selling the image. We hope the trend of the last few years is reversed and Saradari recovers in the quality dimension.More

Bad experience. I ordered the "surf and turf" plate, I think one of their most expensive dishes (more than 65 euros). The "lobster" (god make it..) was super small (as small a size 0-1 shrimp) and not only that but they served half of it!!!...The "ribeye" thin, hard and chewy. They should add the grams of the steak and the god make it lobster on the menu so we know what we are ordering, this was a still. Staff typical of a Greek tavern (not a restaurant). overall they are trying to be something they are not. Steer away.More

Eva really looked after us whilst in Crete recently. I made a reservation back in May as heard lots of great things and wanted to be sure to have a table there - So glad I did!! The location is to die for. The restaurant...itself is beautiful. The service and of course the food is the best. I had the Grouper Burger and it was probably the best burger I have ever eaten! My daughter had Sashimi and it melted in the mouth. The experience was so good, that we immediately booked to return a few days later. Again, every5thing exceeded our expectations. Thank you Saradari for our best meal in Crete!!More

The restaurant is excellent and the food exceptional. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. The view all round makes this a place to visit. They also supply drinks to a beach area with sunbeds and canopies but they are not fixed and need to be...pushed into the beach. All in all a very pleasant stay at that beach. May be advisable to book a table if having a meal.More

Despite a lovely view and wonderful food, this restaurant lacks well-trained staff, which undermines the entire concept of an exclusive fish restaurant. The waiter was impolite and addressed us as if he was our dearest friend. The order was jumbled, and one starter appeared alongside...the main course. It took 45 minutes for them to bring a desert (ready made cake). Instead of apologizing when we calmly pointed out flaws, the waiter began to argue with us. The icing on the cake was a one-pound coin placed in the change tray alongside other EUR coins. Poor service is a major issue, but a monetary swindle is already a significant fraud. It is unquestionably a NO-GO zone.More

We read the reviews and were really keen to try this place for ourselves. On the whole the food was pretty good- a tasty octopus starter followed by an excellent seared tuna steak, cooked just to my liking and perfectly as requested. From there however...it went downhill. My son had the grouper burger which looked magnificent but contained very little fish. My wife had the monkfish, again a small portion even though she’s not a big eater. There were not a lot of smiles going around from the staff and we felt we were being rushed as they wanted the table back. Finally, when the bill came it was much more than expected, to the tune of 50 euros. They did not seem pleased that we had the temerity to query it, especially as it was all in Greek. So we asked them to walk us through it, item by item….. They claimed the additional items were from the preceding table and the bill had not been closed down. I found it a little hard to believe that some of the items would have been exactly duplicated! I would have expected the manager/owner to come over and apologise but not a sign of that, he just carried on issuing orders to the staff. Such a pity- very happy to pay for great food and great service but I guess we were just unlucky on this occasion. But they do all need to smile more, even if busy!More
