It’s well worth visiting this lovely cafe in front of the Morosini fountain. If you’re visiting the incredible archaeological museum, it’s only 5 minutes up the road. Great outlook onto a bustling square especially from the balcony tables. The food is delicious, the coffee is...strong and the staff are friendly and good at their jobs. Insights to Scottish football thrown in for free. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Susan, John and Edith xMore

I've made no secret of my addiction to this famous Heraklion establishment. In 100 visits, I think my orange juice arrived late one time. The staff here, are the epitome of Cretan hospitality, and the yummy gastronomy always shines. If you find yourself in Heraklion's...pedestrian center, at the famous Lion's Fountain, take breakfast here. That Cretan butter you see my photo! Oh my, oh my. Spread that on the fresh toast, sip a perfect cappuccino, and just take in the view. Thanks for never disappointing guys.More

When the talk comes to Greece, what do you really expect to find? Friendly people! This is the right place to feel the greek warmth in service. The place had the most central location in Heraklion. it would worth going there even if they did...not serve you at all :) just to say you were there. In Phylosofies I had a tasty frappe worthwhile waiting a bit more than usual to be served. I will definatelly try it again to taste the desserts which are all hand made.More

A nice place to have some drinks. We sat upstairs on the balcony, from there you have a nice view of the square. Excellent place for people watching. Their bakery offers many local greek delicacies. A big downside was the long wait time each time...we wanted to order something, even though they have a button to call for service. Staff is friendly but slow.More

Situated in front of the Venetian Morosini Fountain. You sit in the shade of big trees and opposite to Info Point for tourists. A popular place for Greek people. I heard that they often have breakfast of bouyatsa there for a treat before going to...work. It was recommended to us by locals. I hope foreign tourists will get to know it. It is called Phyllosophies and has nothing to do with philosophie but with phyllo pastry :)More

The coronavirus pandemic has harmed us all in ways we cannot begin to describe. It's going to take some time for the world to heal from this one, that's for sure. And our friends and family will play a huge role in giving us back...our lives. I mention this because it's been a year since we sat down at Heraklion's most iconic coffee and pastry shop. We missed these people and this experience, more than we even realized. "Phil, "Ti Kaneis?" (How are you?) We missed you, it's been a whole year!" Tripadvisor users reading this will identify with this, I know. Everyone has favorite places, favorite people, and stunning memories from local shops in their own hometown. Well, Phyllosophies' owners, their staff, and the legend they have built for generations now, is still with us. Go here if you are in Heraklion. Have a glass of Nikos Gavalas white wine. Dive into the cafe's famous bougatsa. Sit and dream over a perfect cappuccino and stare at the passers by the city's iconic Lion's Fountain. Not visiting this classy cafe would be like going to Paris and missing the Eiffel Tower.More

A wonderful place in the heart of the city and specifically in the lions square. Relaxing music, clear place, excellent quality in its products, very reasonable prices and an incredibly smiling and polite staff. Although there was a lot of people and all the tables...were full, the service was incredibly fast. Specifically, we tried the unique bougatsa mizithra with honey and walnuts and homemade lemonade. I can't wait to be on the island again and to visit you again, trying this time and your wonderful sweets as well as the traditional loukoumades. It is a place worth visiting on the island and try all these unique flavors. I highly recommend it. Simply fantastic!More
