Three of us had a meal here on a Sunday night in August. As you walk up the sea front from the harbour Megaro is the first restaurant we came to. The main building is on the street with a seating and bar area out over the sea. We stopped to look at the menu and were approached by a friendly gentleman who asked if we had seen anything we liked or were there any questions about the menu he could help with. We decided we would eat here as there was a good choice of all types of food. We were taken to a table as they were all spaced out to comply with the distance rules. We ordered and after a short wait our starters arrived. We then had mains and deserts. The bottle of Greek red wine was delicious as was everything else we eat. When asking for our bill we were given complimentary Ouzo and Limoncello for the lady in our party. I understand that the restaurant is family owned and everyone did all they could to give us an enjoyable meal and evening. We had no safety concerns during our stay. We will defiantly eat here again on our next visit to Elounda.

We nearly didn't visit Megaro as it is one of the only restaurants in Elounda which hires someone to stand outside and beckon you in. I always get put off by this even though he was so friendly and genuinely nice, I like to have a little time to look at a menu before being accosted so we always hurried on past.
On one of our last days we decided to head on in for lunch and so glad we did. The setting is lovely and we were lucky to have a man playing his Laouto whilst we enjoyed our drinks which really was enjoyable.
The food was more than adequate my husband having a burger and I the moussaka and an above average pina colada. We treated ourselves to an absolutely amazing baclava and it really was one of the best I have had.#
As with the majority of restaurants in Elounda, the staff really do work so hard and such long hours and really do always have a smile on their faces. Megaro is a lovely little place to grab a bite to eat and I am happy to have eaten there.

We had several meals here during our 2 week stay in Elounda. The staff were very welcoming rearranging tables for us as we were a group of 5. There is a huge choice of food on the menu. Whilst looking at the menu and selecting drinks the staff were always available to answer any questions. After eating great meals we were presented with a selection of cakes cooked by the waiters mum, and of course Raki or Limoncello. Great value and we would highly recommend it.

This restaurant serves lovely food. The only problem is that they are keen to serve food and get you out as quickly as possible. We had our starter and as soon as we finished the waiter collected our dishes with one hand and at the same time served us with our mains with the other hand. There was no break between dishes. It’s a shame really as food was very nice and seeing that it’s one of the more expensive restaurants I feel that more time should be allowed to sit, relax and enjoy the meal

What a gem of a restaurant, right on the water in lovely Elounda. Staff very welcoming, and the service was excellent. Both my husband and I had seafood and it was super fresh and tasty. The owner asked as we were leaving if my son liked ice-cream (to which the obvious answer was yes). He then, in absolute lighting speed produced a cone with vanilla ice-cream. An amazing little touch, thank you.

The first time going to Megaro we were greeted with a smile, sat outside on the by the front to watch all the fish swim by. There are fantastic selection of cocktails (pornstar martinis to die for) and a large menu for anyone to choose from. The zucchini circles with a feta dip were gorgeous and crunchy. I then followed with the ravioli cheese and sage, which just made you melt in delight. The service was fantastic!
Second time going (the only place we visited twice in 2 weeks was even better!) To start the avocado rolls with mango and crab was the perfect size starter. Followed by the spaghetti cuttlefish ink and salmon which was the best dish I had during the entire stay.
If you want good service, friendly people with excellent selection of amazing dishes then turn up at their door!

The Megaro occupies a prime position right on the harbour in the heart of Elounda. We stayed in the area for 2 weeks and visited a number of local restaurants, however we kept coming back to this one as it stood out from all the others. Every meal served to us was excellent and I would especially stress the quality of the service and the warm welcome from the owners and all of the staff. One additional benefit is that this restaurant has large electric windows, so that in the event of a shower or blustery winds, you can still enjoy your meal and your view of the sea, in great comfort. The whole place is spotlessly clean, including the WC facilities. COVID precautions were well observed, including sanitiser on every table. We will certainly return when the opportunity arises. I'm missing the Seafood Linguini already!

We’ve been visiting this restaurant for many years on our family trips to Elounda. Due to the pandemic this was our fist visit in 2 years and we were met with hugs and the warmest welcome from Nikki and the amazing team.
It’s like wearing a comfy pair of slippers, only they are really gorgeous slippers as the food is out of this world.m and the hospitality is off the chart!
We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a particular bottle of champagne, it was out of stock so Nikki arranged for one to be driven from their restaurant in Plaka ❤️ what amazing service!!!
So the food, where to start! Amazing traditional dishes and of course local fish of the day! We chose Rock salt whole sea bass, traditional lamb dish and Chateaubriand, all were divine. A proper home cooked feast and dessert selection for a also wonderful.
We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, think of your favourite restaurant at home and I guarantee you will be made to feel just as welcome and will love the food and atmosphere.
One more thing, the outdoor space has been renovated and it is simply beautiful.

We went to Megaro, as we had heard that it serves lion fish. Lion fish are an invasive species and are a risk to the local ecology, with no natural predators in these waters. So, the answer is; to eat them! Create demand in restaurants, fisherman will catch them and hopefully control their numbers. All good. Lion fish are very tasty. Unfortunately we were charged €52 for two small (actually, very small fish). I don’t have a huge appetite but I could have eaten three. Restaurants, ecologists and fishermen need to work out a strategy to create an affordable demand. Otherwise, the Med will see the same ecological damage that the Caribbean has witnessed through lion fish. Oh, and I would prefer not to see birds in small cages…

Megaro is beautifully situated to provide diners with perfect sea views.
The reason that we chose Megaro is because the staff explained to us that they only sell Greek food and do not sell burgers and pizzas like some of the other restaurants. The staff showed us fresh fish that we could choose from and were knowledgable about the menu.
We were given a table by the harbour side with beautiful views over the bay.
We were given an appetiser of garlic bread and then we had out starters of hummus and pita bread and grilled prawns in a garlic sauce. Both were delicious, the prawns were very fresh and the sauce was rich and delicious.
I had lamb chops and baked potatoes for main course. The lamb was cooked to perfection and had been cooked with rosemary.
My partner had lamb Kleftico. It was a triumph. Butter soft lamb, potatoes and vegetables topped with Gruyère cheese. Absolutely delicious.
We did not have room for a punning but were given complimentary cake and fruit and a bottle of Retsina.
The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend a meal there to anyone visiting Elounda

The service is always outstanding and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. They make every guest feel special. It’s a must stop for every time we visit (and often multiple times!)
Make sure to have the sea bass carpaccio, any fresh fish and try their special salad. The owners father catches the fish daily.
The views are beautiful as the restaurant sits on the water but go for the feeling of welcome and Greek hospitality.

A party of 11 older adults with a mix of dietary requirements, a pescatarian bro in law and a sister with lactose, gluten eggs and chicken intolerances. I visited the evening before we planned to dine to talk through with with Harula so that I could offer sis assurance.
Outstanding customer service, Harula identified a range of options for sister and for bro in law - on the night itself Harula supplied almond milk for the coffee. Nikki looked after our group and ensured that sis was not taken by surprise. Harula and Nikki stand out in terms of customer experience. As a frequent traveller I can only describe that it is on a par with the best!
Great location by the sea. A lively atmosphere and a range of seafood to die for. Large portions, too large for us. The warm welcome, the buzz in the restaurant make it a must visit- it’s sister restaurant is at Plaka - Giovannis. Review to follow.
Thank you Harula and Nikki and your team, we had a wonderful evening.

My husband and I visited the restaurant at the end of October. The staff were very hospitable and the food was beautiful and well presented, I had my go-to Greek dish Souvlaki and is one of the best I’ve had so far. The outside eating area had great views, we sat and watched the crabs wander past in the shallow water below. We had a great experience and would return.

We have been coming to Elounda for the last 3 years and always love coming to Megaro. The food is wonderful (the salt baked sea bass is amazing!!) and the staff are so lovely, warm and friendly. The restaurant has been redesigned this year into a clever warmly lit open space with a retractable roof to cover all weathers and the menu just gets better and better. We love it here and hope you do too.

Not impressed with the food or the service mushroom risotto wasn’t cooked rice was very chalky. The only saving grace was a very nice orange cake that was complimentary. We visited here twice last year and on returning this year very disappointed. We were charged for wine that we hadn’t had when we raised this the fair haired waiter was arrogant . Won’t be returning
