The location itself is worth a visit. Derelict buildings, some of them being renovated and turned into "hip" places on a pebble beach. Wooden tables (with linen table cloth) and chairs set right on the "beach" and among the seagrass. Great sunset view. Service is...really fast and efficient. The three of us had a variety of dishes and all were really tasty . It is a good 30 minute walk from the old town. But you pass some sections of town which are mainly frequented by (mostly young) locals. Thus, the walk is an extra bonus (and you work up an appetite going out there, and work off some of the calories which you will have gladly consumed at the restaurant).More

We really fancied a fish supper and were recommended this place by a waiter at another very good restaurant, for brilliant seafood in Chania. What a better place to eat seafood than right by the sea with the water pretty much lapping on your feet....Extensive menu. Waiter invited us to come and see the fresh fish. We ordered mussels, grilled octopus, fried moray eel and parrot fish. All were proper pukka, flavourful, cooked well and fresh - moray eel was nice, as I hadn’t tried it before and as waiter had said it was a similar taste to cod - it was also accompanied with a nice garlic sauce. If you want a seafood dinner in Chania - then this is your gaff. Waiting staff were pleasant (big up Antonio) and price seemed to be fair for seafood. Recommend!More

We were that impressed we visited this restaurant three times whilst we were in Chania, And every time the food was outstanding. They advise you on what is actually fresh from the days catch some of which will not be on the menu. The fresh...grilled octopus and the red snapper was some of the best I’ve ever tasted and I’ve eaten at a lot of fish restaurants around the world. If you love your fresh fish and seafood you can’t visit Chania and not go to this place the images say it all.More

Quite simply one of our best meals ever. Tables & chairs literally on the beach amidst stray cats & seaweed. Freshly caught octopus & squid cooked simply all the whilst with a sunset to die for.

Amazing setting and delicious food! The squid was the best I’ve ever had! We got there and watched the sunset which was beautiful. The staff were really nice and helpful also.

My husband and I visited this restaurant two nights in a row we enjoyed it so much. It was full of locals and is located right in front of the ocean, with a view of the sunset. It has a casual feel yet romantic and...authentic, and the food is amazing. If you want Greek food and fresh seafood, then you can’t miss this place.More

The location of Thalassino Ageri is quite unique - the tables are right on the sea, not in fancy way, but in a rather "rough" way. Its in an mostly deserted area of Chania and I recommend getting there by taxi. Do book ahead, and...specify that you wish to sit in the "first row" (right on the sea). Food is only sea food (they have a few non sea food starters), so is not suitable if you dont like fish or other sea food. My starter (local fried small shrimps to be eaten whole) was very tasty. The main (a grilled fish) was okay, but I had better fish in Crete. Prices are very reasonable, but a bit higher than in comparable places. Still - I would totally return, as the setting is really quite unique and special.More

We visited this place based on the Mark Wiens episode. We had high expectations to begin with. The place was a cute fish tavern with a nice view on the ocean, which becomes enchanting at sunset. They offera variety of fresh locally caught fish. Also...order the special garlic sauce (taratour) for the garlic lovers like us. The place was a bit more pricy then usual. But All and all the food was yummy!More

We went here for our 2nd wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago. The location is simply stunning. The fish is delightful as you can see yourself from the photos. We didn’t have any issues finding it using google maps and walking from Chania old...town (about 30mins).More
