Our family had a wonderful meal at Thalassino Ageri and the sunsets from here are spectacular! Highly recommend!

Amazing atmosphere and good food. We ordered squid, red snapper, shark, potato fries and cretan salad. Service was friendly. I would advise going before/ during sunset, to profit from the fantastic location/view. You could also consider walking there from the city, along the shore. Especially...if you stay near the city beach. It is a very pleasant walk, and takes about 20 minutes. You may not first and foremist go there for the food, But that was also absolutely not bad. And absolutely worth the extra money we spent going there (80 euros for 3 people, including wine)More

Pluspoints, the location is charming and the food is simple but good. Main courses are pretty much just various fresh fish fried or grilled, full stop. It’s also not bad value- a simple dinner for four was €140 The main negative is the service, as others...have said. The place is manic so service is very hit and miss, bordering on complacent as they are so popular. So our dirty plates sat on our table for 20 minutes till we asked for them to be removed, despite three waiters standing chatting nearby. They called a taxi for us (essential) but no one told us it has arrived, so 20 minutes later we are facing an angry taxi driver. Would we go back? If you can chill out enough to get over the service, then probably. Otherwise only a 60% chance.More

We waited for more than 5 minutes once seated for a waiter to show up. The food wasn't delayed but the fish and octopus wasn't as good as expected. Finally, we had to wait another 15 minutes after asking for the bill, and reask the...waiters.More

This was for sure the best seafood restaurant in Chania. The setting is simple but incredible right by the sea! The seafood is fresh and great choices! Service was attentive, fast and friendly! This is a must go to place when in the area and...you like fish! Super sunset is a bonus!More

This is a picture perfect Greek waterside taverna. Traditional furniture on a wharf with seaweed on the floor and really really busy. They specialise in fish and the menu reflected this. Unfortunately this was the problem. Our various starters were fine but the main courses...were the let down. Two of the main courses were totally inedible as they were so overcooked (grilled prawns and swordfish). The house wine was only just bearable and the service whilst extremely friendly was a bit slow as they are so popular. It’s such a nice setting and perhaps we chose wrongly but we wouldn’t return.More

This place is honestly so overrated. The service was very poor and slow, we had to wait for very long to even get noticed by the waiters and some of them was very rude. Everything we asked was followed by a big grunt. For example,...we ordered 1 liter of the house wine but was told it would be served by 0,5 liter to start and then we would get the rest. Only thing was we could not get the waiters attention to get the rest of our wine in time (and once we did - it took an additional 10 mins for our wine to arrive). So by the time we got our wine we had already finished eating. Also, we had to pay for two servings of the 0.5 liter wine instead of the 1 liter. When we wanted to pay, we could not even get the waiters attention despite trying to do so for 10-15 mins so we had to walk inside and ask were we could pay. Also, please stay away from the grilled swordfish. It was so dry it tasted like bad chicken. The view is marvellous but I would honestly never recommend someone dining here. Such a huge dissapointment.More

This waterfront restaurant is a veritable institution, and probably serves the best seafood around. Unfortunately it is a victim of its own success. It is packed night after night throughout the summer, with all the attendant inconveniences. The kitchen and waiting staff do a wonderful...job, and cope remarkably well, but this is no longer really a place to come for a romantic tête-à-tête. Despite pretentious developments nearby, though, this remains a delightfully simple, traditional fish taverna, set in a quiet, rundown suburb well away from the bustle of the town.More

This restaurant had the best views and best seafood I've ever had. The calamari melted in my mouth like butter. Seafood doesn't get better than this! Also the view was breathtakingly unforgettable. I would revisit Crete just for this restaurant!

So much fresh seafood to choose from and prepared very well. As usual we ordered too much food and it was all delicious. My husband’s grilled octopus was the best he has had during our two week Greek vacation. We didn’t have a reservation so...no tables available outside on the beach/terrace however, there were three tables inside next to the windows so we got the same benefit of the sunset view without the wind chill after sunset. Staff were very friendly and responsive. We would definitely return.More

I've read a few reviews giving the staff a hard time and I felt I needed to say they were cool in my opinion. I spoke to three different chaps last night and they were great... Funny to chat to, not to pushy with the...menu, recommended stuff when requested. Food was simple and great... It's kind of no frills but it's done well. O... And view at sunset is beautiful... Actually, it's good even in the day.More

Over-rated, over-priced, tasteless and unfriendly. Dreamed of visiting this place for a few years- was not possible with covid, was booked … happened, disappointed totally… Unfriendly inattentive personnel , very basic food ( even salad tasteless), way overpriced for quality, unlikely to Cretan culture (...not even a coffee treated ) … great location, sea and view only Sad Shameful for Cretan hospitalityMore
