The meal my husband and I had here was delicious. We were both very happy with what we got. Mine was a pork dish with teeny potatoes in a sauce. I can't recall what it was called but it was divine! We sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The people next to us told us they had... More

The number of resteraunts in the old town was overwhelming and often the food under whelming but here at Portes we visited 3 times and each time we loved the food. The chicken souvlaki was my favourite main and the zucchini fritters with a bit of tsatsiki was out of this world. The free little desert and raki topped it... More

Romantic restaurant with tables outsides, in the street, so you have to see the passerby in the evening, it's sometimes very interesting nice decoration outside; very good menus.

We've eaten at Portes Taverna every trip we've made to Chania (6 times) over the last 18 years. The owner/supervisor is Susanna. She is a jewel in herself. She married something of a Greek god, a beautiful guy who overseen much of the proceedings, but it is Susanna who is truly in charge. I've never had a bad meal there.... More

This restaurant was recommended to me by a work colleague last year but we never made it to the restaurant then. This year it took a Scandinavian lady we got talking to on the beach to convince us it was the place to go to. Portes is situated at the end of a line of restaurants, so don’t get distracted... Wonderful setting, especially for a windy day. The service was perfect: attentive, warm and easy. The food was super. I enjoyed the Spicy Meatballs with Couscous. It's a popular place, so really booking is essential, however, many came without a booking, and the staff were perfect at looking after them, ensuring they got a table. It rates one if the... More

Very good restaurant with a great selection of dishes on the menu. Lots of local cuisine options and the quality of the food was excellent. Will be going again in next couple of days. Location is nice, in. The old town lanes and staff were very friendly and helpful. It was full when we arrived but you can put your... More

Me and my wife visited this nice restaurant Saturday 1st October early in the evening before sunset. The night before at eight p.m. all tables were reserved. Service was efficient and accurate and timing worked. We ate "light moussaka" and were fully satisfied. Cake was good too with raki. Highly recommended👍🏼

Set in a gorgeous side street food was delicious, service very efficient. Wish we had found this earlier in our trip so we could have went back a second night!
