So, this is one of few times we have followed tripadvisor suggestion and... failed. It's just a simple, local, street food restaurant with not even a good attitude and ridiculously high prices. We had simple straight fried shrimps and barbouni(red mullet) with Greek salad (below...average) and house wine....50 euro.More

We went again after the great time we had there 3 years ago. Located deep in a neighborhood in Piraeus next to a naval academy. The seafood was excellent. The staff and owner very friendly. The price reasonable. We ordered Greek salad. Barbounia fish and...fried Prawns. All was very delicious.More

We ate here for lunch after reading about the restaurant in an Athens guide. We ordered prawns, langostine, fish and Greek salad. The food was really delicious. But at 85 Euros it was more expensive than we thought it would be for such a simple...place and with only soft drinks. We appreciated the free desserts and the service was nice.More

In Greece a simple red mullet (fried) with Greek salad can leave one with utmost satisfaction and at Margaro this was the case. The shrimps were also excellent. Definitely worthy of a return visit.

Went on an August evening. the place is quite minimal as far as the decor goes, but the food makes up for it. the fried shrimps are indeed excelent (though not the best you can find in athens) and everything prepared is simple, clean and...tasty.More

Real Greek cuisine if you want to taste how it is.The service offered is polite and welcoming.Every plate has the feeling of why Greek people like to eat and like to cook. You will keep in your mind always that the simple way of taste, sometimes is...better in a place like Margaro than a luxury restaurant.More

Since 2012 that I "discover" this "treasure" I have been going there regularly. The quality and the quantity of the shrimps portions as well as of the fishes portions are supreme. Everybody (in kitchen and service) know their job and they are doing their very...best! While there are no many menu options, nobody cares, due to the fact that everything is scrumptious!!! The supreme orange pie at the end (which is free of charge, by the way) is excellent also!More

This little restaurant resides at the gate of the naval base of Athens. Just a few tables on a simple terrace overlooking the gate, nothing impressive. That is, until the food arrives. They serve only three dishes: Greek salad, fried shrimp and fried red mullet....The food is fresh, delicious and clean. The portions are generous and the service personal and fast. Served with freshly baked white bread and local wine, this was one of the best lunches we had on our stay. We highly recommend the place and will certainly come back.More
