This place has a nice atmosphere and good greek food at reasonable prices even though the location is not the best. There is not a good view or similar either so don't expect a terrace or romantic dining at the outdoor street table. Go here for the food, the music and the raki :)

We recently had the awesome experience of learning how to cook several authentic Greek meals with Maria. My husband and I had a three hour coking class that was taught by Maria. She was so warm, relaxed and patient. She was funny, open and real, explaining the history and techniques of the dishes we were making. Maria delivers the lessons... More

We ate here after visiting earlier in the day with Athens Walking Tours' Food Tour. The welcome was phenomenally friendly, the food authentic and excellent, and the music out of this world. Wonderful evening - thank you.

My wife and I just happened to stumble upon this Taverna at 11pm on a Saturday night. It was one of the best meals/nights of our holiday. The taverna was filled with locals and a traditional greek band was playing (don't know how many nights they have this). The food was fantastic -we picked an oven cooked pork meal for... More

Myself and my husband were recommended to try here by the front desk at our hotel and we are so glad we did. The food is the best we have had, not only in Athens, but in our travels around Europe over the last 6 weeks. The service is attentive, friendly and helpful. The raki and free Greek dessert were... We were extremely lucky to have this place right next to our hotel. We had dinner there almost all days during our holidays in Athens. The value is unbelievable for money! Delicious typical Greek dishes, fresh and high quality ingredients. The staff is very kind and friendly. They always gave us for free a delicious dessert we loved. Original decoration... More

I took a cooking class here that included feasting on Greek Delights! I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The atmosphere is warm and creative. Good times and food, what more could you ask for?

Went there three times with different colleagues and all of them loved the place and the ambiance. The service is a little bit slow but the waitress are very kind. We felt like we were at a greek home.

We had dinner here for two days. The location of Klimataria is not very promising but the food is great. This was the best food we had in three weeks Greece. We had baked feta, stuffed peppers, beef in red wine sauce, cheese omelette, octopus in wine sauce, eggplant in tomato sauce. It was ll very tasty and cheap! The... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
