We randomly picked this place from Google Maps. But, it didn't really disappoint. The views are great and there's a really lovely atmosphere about the place. The only gripe is that the specials aren't really specials as they are already on the main menu and some of the portions were a bit small. But it was well cooked and tasted great. Worth a visit for sure.

The atmosphere was excellent, service very good and food fine. Was recommended by a Greek from Athens so hoping for superb food but we had better meals elsewhere. Worth going though for the rooftop setting

A very good caf'e/snack bar right inside picturesque Plaka area. Lively spot with nice view where you can enjoy coffee, drinks and snacks right outside "on the steps". Really good fun by good weather. Nice lounge inside also and clean amenities.
Friendly staff and good value for money.

We were all very excited to try Elaia, the whole experience was poor. Starters came intermittent and one of my fritters dropped on the floor, one stater completely forgotten.Courgette fritters were so heavy, like pancake batter , not good.
Main course was a seafood linguine, I don't know where the chef learned to cook , but it again was inedible, one of us had the ribs and again the taste was off.
One had pasta bolognaise with peas, looked like a child's meal and all in all service was dis jointed and not noticing what was happening at the table.
After complaining the bill was paid in full because I felt they just don't care about customers only the money.
The chef never came out to speak with us .
Shame on you .

Elaia is an excellent restaurant that offer a superb food and drinks menu and was one of the many restaurant's and bars we went to on a seven day holiday in Athens.
This brilliant restaurant is located in Plaka in the picturesque old back street's where there are many interesting bars and cafés and tavernas and many sights. This superb restaurant is located in a prime location in Plaka and has amazing views of Athens.
We never went inside this restaurant as the weather was superb and we took a seat by the main entrance and ordered our drink's which where a Freddo Cappuccino a very refreshing iced coffee which where superb but a tad expensive.
This is an excellent restaurant in a brilliant area of Athens and is well worth a visit and is really easy to locate from Mētropolē bus stop its a couple of minutes walk.(This is my first review of Elaia restaurant).
Opening Hours.
Monday-Sunday-08.30-00.30.

On a beautiful sunny and hot morning my twin brother Stephen and I were exploring the back streets of the Plaka District when we decided to drop into Elaia Restaurant and what a great find.
A lovely restaurant ,a nice interior ,great decor and furnishings ,lots of seating options inside and outside and on their rooftop garden area ,all in all a superb restaurant to chill out .
We were here on a Thursday late morning ,temperatures in the 90's ,we sat outside and ordered a freddo cappuccino ( iced coffee ) and these were served in no time at all ,we chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our iced coffee's.
I enjoy an iced coffee every now and again especially when the weather is this hot ,a perfect drink to start the day off and a perfect drink to cool you down.
We really enjoyed our iced coffee's before moving on and for a first time visit to here we had a great time.
Elaia Restaurant is easy to locate along Erechtheos / Erotokritou in the Plaka District .
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday,8.30am till 12.30am.
Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Fabulous view of the moon coming up and above the rooftops in Athens. As one reviewer mentioned we were seated in a snug quiet corner after we rejected the first table given to us-which was in quite a busy thoroughfare. Good food-veggie pasta and Greek salad recommended-both vegetarian.

Unfortunately, I was not able to try the dishes at this restaurant. After more than half an hour of waiting for someone to attend to us, my family and I decided to look for another place. Upon leaving, the manager or owner remarked that I shouldn't be surprised because there were many guests. I think I wouldn't have written this review if we had been refused service due to the number of guests. I suggest considering hiring more staff or reducing the number of tables, otherwise, the impression of greediness in making money will remain...

Underwhelming. Pretended that the rooftop area was too busy as they didn’t want my family sat there and guided us to another section without the view. Waiter forgot one of the meals. Food was mediocre but expensive.

My wife and I dined at Elaia on our last night in Athens during our trip to Greece last fall. It is in a great location under the Acropolis in Plaka. We were seated on the upper terrace with a wonderful view overlooking Athens. We saw a gorgeous full moon rising over the eastern horizon. We shared a nice Greek salad. I had roasted lamb, potatoes and gravy, which was much better than I expected. It was a very pleasant autumn evening and setting for our meal at Elaia.

Very nice location especially if you sit on the roof where you can see the whole surrounding area. Very good food and excellent service. I would definitely go back. We got kalamari fried, chicken souvlaki chicken fillet, season herbs, fried potatoes and 2 bottles of water and we paid €68.

This was a truly exceptional Greek dinner. Rooftop views to the Acropolis provided an incredible ambience and sunset backdrop. The staff were friendly, courteous with just the right amount of attention. The food was beyond good. Honestly, it tasted as though my Yia Yia had prepared it; and that is high praise.

We just came here for some wine and small bites on the lovely stairs of Plaka, which worked out perfectly. The service was very friendly and helpful. We had a perfect wine, some nice olives and cheese. Good place for a drink.

Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
