We arrived on a Monday night without a reservation around 7:30 pm. As it is off season, we were able to get a table right away but that doesn't mean the restaurant was empty - far from it! Almost every table was full. The only con of the restaurant is the close proximity to which you sit next to people - we had the loudest chewer smacking away next to us, but thankfully the food and service made up for that. The prices were extremely reasonable. As soon as we sat, we were brought over complimentary water and thinly sliced meats with cheese. We ordered the meatballs which were around 7 euro, the sausages which were 7.5 euro (we were given the option to get both the pork and beef sausage on the same platter, which we did!), and the fried cheese for 5 euro. Everything was EXCELLENT. Highly recommend the fried cheese and the beef sausages, those were my favorite. We finished the meal with the complimentary dessert of a yogurt and orange marmalade as well as the baklava, which was incredible. The waiters were very attentive and kind. They spoke perfect English and were helpful with the menu. This restaurant is well reviewed for a reason.

We were strolling through the streets of Athens looking for, you guessed it, food! We weren’t familiar with this restaurant but there were no free tables. To me, that’s always a good sign. We waited for about 10 Minutes to get seated since all the tables were pre-booked (please make reservations before you go: +30 21 0321 9119). They offered small bites of cheese and ham in the beginning (free of charge) including a free desert with two shots at the end of our meal. This pretty much speaks volumes! The food was amazing, all dishes are highly recommended! Mostly locals eat here and the waiters are extremely friendly (and funny).

Pretty recommend visiting. This restaurant is full of people and when we tried to find some place to take dinner. Any way, waitress find a table for us and served us very fresh, very delicious dishes in traditional share-your-food-manner. With the menu restaurant proposes some menu with pictures. It very helpful to make choice. We ordered Mandi Karamanlidiko and Moussaka Karamanlidiko. All plates was very hot, right after oven. Excellent food, very nice service, unforgettable greek cheese.

On the 5th night, i managed to get to a great restaurant whilst there was a table to be had, they serve traditional sharing plates, i ordered 4, the waitress suggested 3 might be more appropriate (nicely), I couldn’t decide which not to have so stayed with 4, they were all fabulous, but I couldn’t finish them and declined the complementary desert. On top of the 4, there was a complementary starter/amuse bouchée and a large wedge of fresh bread. The restaurant was full all the time I was there, locals and tourists, the staff seem to manage a number of languages, if I’d got in here on an earlier night I’d have returned already

When we are traveling, we never have dinner at the same restaurant twice. We made an exception and we were very happy to have broken our rule The selection of excellent and authentic specialities was exceptional. Both evenings we had five ‘small plates’ and one ‘main’. Our favorites—and we had no repeats among the 12 dishes we enjoyed—were the meatballs and the smoked eggplant (both cold appetizer and bigger main). There were many meatless dishes and a whole section with smoked fish. The restaurant is a deli/traiteur and its neighbors are lucky to have such a gem nearby. The bread could have been better but was fine as a delivery vehicle for spreads, which were delicious. Portions were substantial and even with a bottle of Greek red wine and a 10% tip, we paid less than 50€ for an excellent dinner for two.. Service was professional, speedy and attentive, friendly without being familiar. The restaurant had a buzz with people coming and going. We did not eat on the roof terrace, but there was a steady stream of guests heading upstairs. We looked at the Ermou location but it didn’t seem as lively. Ventilation indoors was satisfactory and Maria, the hostess and bill-keeper, was as delightful as other reviewers have said.

We had one of those experiences that puts you a big smile on your face and makes you realize that there are still beautifully hearted people in the world. We have been greeted by friendly staff With a great smile. Our food order was perfect, very tasty, big size and the prices were more than decent. At the end of the meal they brought us a free sweet treat which really was one of the most delicious yet refreshing dessert , made by this sweet lady there, MARIA (Maria, If u read this, keep that beautiful smile on). It was greek yogurt topped with home made caramelized carrots which was just divine. Never thought carrots can have such a nice touch to a dessert. I was blown away when I asked if they have this caramelized carrot for sale and she actually offered it happily to us as a gift , even though It was not for sale or anything. She just went to kitchen and filled up a jar for us . Beautiful gesture that came sincerely from her heart ❤️. Must place to visit when in Athens!

We tried to have dinner there yesterday but there was a bit of a queue/waiting list (always a good sign) so we decided to leave it for today's lunch and wow, we did find a hidden gem. The staff is lovely, María was serving us and we left our food choices up to her...she couldn't have advised us any better! Fava, a delicious beef and potatoes pan, meatballs,...all the food is Greek (traditional) and some of the recipes we tried are hundred of years old. Maria has also been excellent at advising sizes to order, most Greek restaurants we have tried so far serve way too much, which is not the best if you want to carry on with your walking adventure in the heat/sun afterwards. Gracias por todo, María, un beso de Fuensanta y Adrián.

My boyfriend and I visited this place yesterday after searching for restaurants on trip advisor. We were looking for a more local and authentic place, hence why this place caught our attention. From the moment we stepped in, we felt very welcome. The staff was very friendly, professional and we loved the ambience. We tried multiple dishes and got a bottle of wine recommended by one of the waiters, this wine fit perfectly with our food. Apart from this, the prices are quite low for the quality they offer you. This has been the best place we have visited in our vacation so far and we will definitely go back here if we ever visit Athens again!

The place has style - it feels simple and authentic (housed in a historic building), yet with a certain elegance underlined by its quality food offering. Portions are generous, as is the service. At the end of our meal the manager offered us a delicious dessert on the house - Greek yoghurt with a home made fruit compote. Highly recommended.

Best authentic meal in Athens! Service is amazing, everything we ate was incredible. I understand why this is so highly rated. We tried an appetizer and 2 main dishes and got dessert for free - our total bill was $20. We want to come back tomorrow. Definitely worth the trip here!!!

This restaurant is open! We recently went to this restaurant for dinner. When we checked in at the restaurant, we were greeted by the wonderful and super friendly Maria. Everything that we ordered were excellent, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the food on the menu. We started with a complimentary appetizer of deli meat with cheese. We followed the recommendations of the knowledgeable server on beer and some traditional dishes. The portions were big, and generous and certainly very delicious! Just when we were a little too full from the generous portions of food, the server came with complimentary yogurt and grated carrot dessert! Overall a very pleasant experience from start to finish. We truly enjoyed our meal here. And to the friendly and wonderful Maria, from KL with love!

The setting is definitely unique. Prices are moderate but as tourists, they’re quite cheap. The bulgur salad is delicious and unique, there’s another fried appetizer that we had that was amazing! It’s the one with an entirely greek name that we can’t remember but it’s the second picture. Service is nice and I would recommend going when it’s not so busy to thoroughly enjoy the meal.

Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
