As soon as we arrived the staff were very welcoming, despite us having booked for 30 people just 20 minutes before. For extremely reasonable prices we had a 3 course set menu meal with a drink; all the food was delicious and they were also accommodating to vegetarians and vegans. Would definitely visit again!

We had a very enjoyable meal here on Friday night. Vassilious made the evening truly memorable. He suggested the sharing plates for our group of 7, was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and we were given some complimentary shots at the end which was a nice touch. The team is so welcoming and makes suggestions on quantities etc and are so attentive, without being too much. There was another staff member (unsure of his name) who I believe is a chef, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome too. The team here truly are an asset and go above and beyond! We enjoyed it so much that we returned a couple of days later for lunch and were given some complimentary fruits after our meal. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again when I’m next in Athens!

Had dinner at Liondi after an afternoon exploring the Acropolis and surrounds. It was our first dinner in Greece so we wanted something memorable. And they honestly delivered on all counts. The staff were super friendly, the prices were reasonable, it was walking distance to a Metro station and the food was sensational. Our must-try recommendation is the lamb shoulder with lemon potatoes, and the meal was rounded out by complementary cake. As a budget-conscious traveller I probably wouldn’t eat there every night when there are $2 gyros to be had in Plaka, but it’s well worth a visit.

Best restaurant near Acropolis - they serve traditional Greek cuisine. We ordered a set for 2 people with wine (around 6-7 starters & dishes). Owner is extremely helpful as well as the whole staff. Very tasty food in good price. Nice surroundings.

This was some no nonsense traditional Greek food at a well located eatery in a fun family style atmosphere. I will visit again if I come back to Athens. I enjoyed the lamb (it literally fell off the bone- no knife required)- it was a little salty but the subtle flavors sealed the deal on this being a fabulous dish. I appreciated the complementary cake they serve at the end of the meal (mine was a wonderful orange and coconut cake- delicious combination of flavors!) If you’re hungry and around the Acropolis, would reccomend that you give it a try. The menu was short, but clearly this place is about quality. The portions were big enough to share along with an appetizer.

Very good place with great quantities of food. Just ask the waiter for the greek platter for 2 or 3 or 4 people for €15. It has everything cold starters, salads, a glass of wine, main course and a dessert. And the waiters are awesome always smiling very friendly. Must to go place!

Was initially approached to ask if we wanted to stop in and eat for lunch. After having just eaten we turned them down. Being students we were told if we come back we would have a glass of wine and dessert waiting for us on the house as well as food to share for 10€ a person. Returning for dinner the staff went above and beyond, bringing a pitcher of wine for the table and three courses of the BEST Greek food I've ever had! Dessert was brought along with shots for the table, also on the house. Not only was the food great but the staff were some of the most friendly people I've ever met and did their best to give us the authentic Greek experience. If you visit the Acropolis or Acropolis Museum this place is a MUST STOP for food.

This was by far the best dining experience of our trip to Athens. The service was incredible, our waiter was outstanding and the little added touches made our experience wonderful. The menu has a good variety of food (including vegetarian options) and drink at very reasonable prices. The food itself was delicious and came in very large portions. Overall the atmosphere of this place is friendly, warm and welcoming. Great experience and will return!

We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we ate there twice during our trip. The chef came out and asked what we liked to eat the 1st night then prepared a mouth-watering dinner with lots of extra surprises. For the 2nd dinner, we had the traditional Greek dinner for 4, which was equally delicious!

We had an amazing night here! We were warmly greeted by the chef who offered to make us the mix for 2, half vegetarian half meat. The waiters are great and we had a lot of fun with them. We were even offered free drinks! The food was delicious. We highly recommend the mix for 2 (32€). You will never finish it but it will be delicious and 100% worth it. Tip: if the chef asks if you're a big eater, he means BIG eater. We weren't able to finish but got the rest to-go. Since it was my boyfriend's birthday, he got the chef's Tzatziki recipe as a gift. If you're looking for a restaurant, this one will not disappoint! Perfect food, perfect service. 👌

My husband and I had the Greek sharing platter. Everything on it was absolutely delicious. The homemade tzatsiki and pitta were delicious, the lamb with lemon potatoes were tender. The baked feta with tomatoes and peppers were so soft. Plus the moussaka was beautiful. The portions are enormous also - we could have fed a whole family! We were too stuffed to order pudding but the staff were so lovely they gave us a piece of walnut cake and shot of mastica anyway. Which were both utterly delicious, the cake steeped in honey. I really recommend having a meal here. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed.

This restaurant was one of the best restaurants we ate at during our two week stay in Greece. The staff was the best! Friendly, knowledgeable, and treated us with kindness and respect. The food was fantastic. We had grouper, shrimp with garlic, and chicken pitas. The grouper was unbelievable! The chef came out to visit and to make sure everything was OK. The waiters were the best, especially with recommendations for what food to try. We were given a delicious complimentary dessert, and finished the meal off with some Ouzo and a toast with the staff! It was the best dinner experience we had while in Greece. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would gladly return! Yamas!!

The staff was very welcoming and cheerful. They offer homemade wine and if you ask maybe a glass of ouzo after you finish your meal. Which is not an easy task by the way, the portions are huge and the food is really really delicious.

First restaurant after landing in Athens and did we ever luck in! As Canadians, we love it when people in foreign countries share their Canadian experiences..... the chef/owner had worked in Canada training other chefs and boy was his food great! Fresh sea bass, lemon potatoes, Greek salad....... free dessert - who could ask for more? All served with a smile and plenty of stories. If heading to the Acropolis be sure and stop here for a traditional Greek meal.... you won’t be disappointed.

We were staying a 100 metres away and what with the reviews, we were bound to go there. And it was well worth it. Had the best Prawns Saganaki of our trip and rest of the food was also great. What made the meal even more special was the amazing staff - the major domo stands on the street attracting customers and puts up a comedy show while doing so. He had us in splits through the dinner. Rest of the guys are also very friendly.

Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
