The perfect destination if you want a 7 euro coffee peppered with automobile exhaust. Was once the best cafe in Athens - but whoever the current owner is, he/she needs a lesson in style and respectability.

Visited the place 3-4 times over the past year. The atmosphere is nice, location is perfect. I LOVE their sushi. I think it's the best I ever had and I always go back for that. I have also tried pasta and it was OK, I had the oven potatoes and it was great. A friend of mine had their tea... More

We stopped here in between meetings for a drink and snack. The place is magnificent! Very cool decor and very cool people yet not unpretentious. Menu was solid and drinks really tasty. All round good expedition.

We came here for an early supper/late lunch before going on to the opera at the Olimpia Theatre a ten-minute walk away, and it was busy. Zonars has been refurbished recently and has an Andy Warhol theme to its décor. The food is good and we enjoyed salmon in filo pastry, pork fillet and a burger. Desserts included "chocolate fondant"... More

I had a mid-morning coffee with a friend at this place in Feb2017. The atmosphere is nice and the place well decorated but suffers from snobish waiters that on top can't do their job well. We were waited by a lady, who when we asked her if smoking is allowed, because we saw someone smoking, she exclaimed 'Of course'. We... More

Very classy place... the menu is on the gourmet side.. of course a little bit expensive. The location though is very convenient. The centre of Athens syntagna square is 5 minute walk away and the metro station 2 minute walk..

We went to the Attica Department Store and afterwards decided to go to Zonars for brunch and a coffee. We sat down outside, right outside the door, the waiter walked past us twice and never acknowledged we were sat there. We sat there 10 minutes and then decided that was enough time to wait and left.

Ok, lets be clear. Given its prime location and the historical backround of the store you should expect high end service and menus along with relatively high prices. Are these expectations met? Well in some degree yes. The staff is relatively up to the task of delivering high class service and the menus are simly awesome. Just try the chicago... More

Went there for dinner with my family. The food is really good (went for the seafood options), people are very polite and friendy and the place is amazing. You have to try it for dinner. Went the day after as well and had sushi which was really nice as well.

Visited Saturday afternoon around 15:00. Nice table with views on Panepistimiou street, nice sunny day. Food was average , portions are rather small, wine list limited and very expensive. Cocktails are expensive too. Now, I see some value in being in a nice , relaxed place on a Saturday noon , escaping the city noise but I would probably not... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
