An impromptu stop on a hot October afternoon for a glass or two of wine. Tried Greek Orange Wine, one unfiltered, natural, and produced in the traditional way. Very pleasant and informed service.

We've eaten here both inside in the arcade area and outside in the square by the old church mainly because we stay at InnAthens which is through the arcade (although I understand that the restaurant is unrelated to the hotel). Food has always been looked...and tasted great, service also good with attention to detail and wines either by the bottle or by the glass have always been good recommendations based on our price point, preferred character of wines etc. I've learnt a lot about Greek wines and been impressed by them - just a shame we can't buy any of our favourite wine list vintages in the UK. Nice locations, inside can be a bit noisy when busy, blankets have been provided outside when cold in the past. Best to reserve on Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights as it's busy.More

After returning from plaka we ended up at this wine bar… We had the chance to try different types of wine and cheese and they were perfect. I think the prices could’ve been better though 😏

By the glass is our most favorite wine venue in all of Athens Greece… The extremely knowledgeable sommelier, epic Mediterranean cuisine along with atmospheric venue makes for a perfect lunch or dinner. We’d suggest ordering the amazing Greek wines and enjoying this lovely venue!

We ate at By the Glass our first night in Athens, somewhat jet lagged but wanting to try Greek wines. The sommelier there was very helpful and educated us on varietals. Even brought the bottles out so we could take pictures of the ones we...liked. Dinner of Greek meatballs with tzatziki was delicious and more than enough to absorb the good wines. Very casual, would recommendMore

We had dinner with our friends from Greece who are well versed in wine. We served almost all the dishes on the menu and did not identify any flaws. Excellent wines. We will be back with pleasure. I sincerely recommend that you do not miss...this restaurant.More

We had booked on the recommendation of a (Greek) friend and weren't sure what to expect. Our aim was to enjoy a glass of wine and some simple food but I have to say that the quality of the food suggested that it is not..."just a wine bar." As you'd expect, the range of wines is extensive, we chose a Rose - Peplo - which was dry and exactly what we wanted. Food was a beetroot salad and beef carpaccio to start ( quantity in both was far more than we had thought there would be), followed by sea bream fillet and pasta with scorpion fish. All in all, good choices which didn't disappoint. only negative was that the first table they offered us was stuck at the end of the corridor and was possibly there because a) we were tourists and b) so many bookings just don't turn up. But they sorted it and ion the end we had a fantastic table. So all in all a great experience.More

We started off our vacation in Greece having dinner here. The outside seating was reserved but the inside was actually quite nice too. The menu was full of variety and we took our time eating many unique appetizers and having many bottles of fantastic Greek...wine. The wine list was quite extensive, and the attentive staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with assisting us with our wine choices. Our dinner entrées were delicious, and we even got an additional entrée (veal cheeks) to put in the middle of the table for everyone to share. It was a perfect start to a perfect vacation. If you are staying next door at InnAthens, this is the perfect place to have dinner.More

I visited the place during the summer period with my wife, we didn't have a table reservation, but they had some vacant spots. Nobody came to greet us, so we approached a staff member asking for a table. It took them some minutes to decide...if they would assist us or not after asking us if we wanted to drink or eat. We replied that most probably both. Afterwards, the waiter came to get the order; we ordered two different wine varieties by the glass, but my selection was unavailable, so I chose something else. We tried 3 or 4 items from the food menu, nothing special to remember, just ok. The prices were reasonable, but the low score I've evaluated my experience derives from the negative approach from the staff. They didn't smile at all; they weren't in a mood to assist and provide alternatives. We asked for the bill more than three times, waiting at least 15 minutes. Nobody from the staff was interested in getting feedback on the way out.More

Terrible service, severely understaffed, we sat for 45 mins and no one even cared to come to our table. Even after we repeatedly asked to order, they brushed us off. Never again! Stay away!
