Relaxed and cute place to have a beer in the evening. It doesn'thave too many sorts of beer nor it has draught beer but the whole idea is the chat with your friends - and some people are sitting there for hours chatting ove one beer.

Seemed like it would be a nice place for coffee, but not an adequate dinner menu and what they had was not well done. It was somewhat understaffed too.

Great little 'authentic' place and the people running it are really nice and friendly - 20m from our hotel so we had a few visits. Arty environment - background music eclectic, unusual and very nice. Light airy and arty - perfect

We loved this place. It's COOL! So sweet and friendly staff, great music and cool art - plus delicious food and coffee. It was a spontaneous visit - and we are so happy we found it! Not a tourist spot at all - just feels like that wonderful neighborhood kind of place where you meet a friend and hang out... More

This is a well-hidden secret of Plaka. The drinks and snacks prepared by the staff are indeed homemade. Kudos to the owners who have great taste and will to offer the maximum to the visitors.

I found this awesome coffee shop/ bar around the corner from the Electra hotel. The coffee is great and the place is very comfortable. I was also lucky enough to have an excellent conversation with the owner. I was in Athens for one night and visited Kimolia twice.

Stopped in here for a light lunch while I explored the Plaka district. This cafe is tucked away in a funky little alley, and has great decor and ambience. The food was also tasty--I had a toasted sandwich with spinach, tomato, Parmesan, and egg, which perfectly hit the spot. Recommended for a nice midday fuel-up!

Wonderful staff, wonderful place. We got to use a part of the cafe for hours on end without being kicked out. I would have bought more than a coffee but it was too pricy for my cheap butt. Honestly it was so cozy and I would go back to Bogard more space for just a coffee

Kimolia is a cozy, colourful and artistic spot in the centre of Athens. Open from December 2011, it hosts various performances and exhibitions all year long. Jazz & Blues tunes with the occasional rock hits, cheap drinks and special cocktails along with a small variety of cold dishes and salads, this place is a must for all-day long! Don't miss the chance to check out the cute room in the back along with all the paintings that are crafted by the owners, Mrs Catherine Vayena and Renata Proestopoulou!

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
