Nice food and special dishes are great. But it is difficult to find dishes that are not spicy at all.

Mama Roux has been a favorite haunt for my friends and I since it opened. I eat there regularly, but I decided to write these words because the place is a wonder: consistently great quality! Fresh ingredients, interesting and well balanced tastes, and a fun space to be in. Last Friday we had the "poblana salad,"(with grilled chicken, avo, corn... More

Mama Roux menu is a thing of wonder. Quite a variety of food, mostly fusion. The price is good for the delicious food in generous portion and the central location on the vibrant Aiolou street. I ordered a ramen burger, where the burger was served medium as requested, with the ingenious moyashi beans stirfried in tonkatsu(?) sauce, and the ramen... More

My husband and I were a bit souvlaki'd out and wanted something different. We stopped in for lunch and got the shrimp tacos and chicken quesadilla. We weren't sure what we were I. For the but the food was great and tasted fresh. The salsa/pico was excellent. There's also a full bar so you can get whatever drink you'd like.... More

The restaurant gets inspired by the Owner traveling around the world. Every taste on my plate was finished with an idea. Desserts are to die for. Try salmon souvlaki if you want to eat the greek dish with a twist!

had a great lunch at the patio, the food was very good, except for the burger , with noodle 'buns' which was slightly overcooked and smothered with oyster sauce while the 'buns' were rather bland, interesting concept could have been executed better, great falafels and tandoori chicken. The service was friendly but a little disoriented, they didn't offer any pitas... More

Their pancakes are sooooo good!! Must try! Big plates, and good prices! Go get breakfast there! It's also close to the sights, so you can go straight from there 5.5€ for the pancakes ( very big portion) 8.5€ for a whole meal (coffee juice eggs yogurt bagel)

I ate about 3 times here on my trip in Greece. This restaurant really is fantastic: the food is delicious, service is good, and the atmosphere is great. This place really is a must stop on your trip. They do a kind of fusion food that is amazing and the desserts are to die for! The chief is really talented.... More

We ate here twice on our trip. It seems to be popular with locals and tourists alike. Food was fresh and tasty. Enjoyed the cocktails. Nice service. It isn't your typical Greek fare but they had a nice variety of international flavours. Would recommend!

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
