My son and I were in Athens for 5 days and ate at Gostijo every evening. The hostess Ricki is warm and welcoming and the waitstaff was attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and especially welcome after homemade sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. The onsite grocery store offers kosher cold cuts, hummus and other things that you can't get elsewhere in Athens. All in all, highly recommend!

The restaurant is now fully operational after the Greek Lockdown. Having visited Kosher Restaurants in numerous Cities Worldwide, this is one of the best. Menu combines local dishes as well as traditional Israeli dishes. Vegetarians are well catered for. Service was quick, piping hot and prepared individually. Would highly recommend. Situated behind the Mary Poppins Restaurant. For those who require kosher food to go, there is a small supermarket attached where basics can be purchased. There is also a delightful outdoor courtyard.

The food is good, fresh, and tasty. The menu is a combination of traditional Greek foods and Sephardic foods. The portions were extremely generous, and the service friendly, attentive, but not overbearing. In the winter months, it appears that they only open for dinner.

Holidaying in Athens, wanted a Kosher meal, and reading reviews chose to go here. We were very disappointed
There were 4 of us. Chose the mixed hot meter for a starter, which is a choice of 4 of 5 hot starters. They serve you three portions of each. Before we had finished the starters, they brought the mains out. So the mains were taken back. When we were ready for the mains, the Mousaka was cold, so these were then microwaved. The other mains weren't served together. The one was served and there was a long wait before the other was served. Of course the Mousakas weren't served together as there must only be one microwave. The baklava was also very disappointing, we know baklava to be dripping with honey. These were dry, there wasn't a drop of honey left on the plate, and it's debatable if there were any on the baklava. As the only kosher restaurant in Athens, it's a great pity that they don't pay attention to detail, and expect their patrons to put up with whatever they serve!

We had booked the place because of several vegetarians in a group and had all the intentions to spend a wonderful evening to celebrate one important milestone by a group of friends. The place was kind of hostile, the waiters were preoccupied as they were very few for such a great number of the tables, but this is ok. What we did not expect is such a low level of food. the falafels were not edible, they were dry and overcooked, the meze were tasteless and the sauces were so watery. On top of this, they would not allow us have our cake there, this is the first ever precedent in a place in Greece. we had to chase them for any little thing and also the waiter could not provide a bill at the table, we had to literally stand in line at the cashier's to get a bill and they only accept cash. Poor people were queueing to find a table there, and i am afraid that they would be as disappointed as we were. of course we went to another place afterwards and continued our party. but never again shall we visit this place

No.
Just no.
The hummous was awful and wet. The mains were cold. I read somewhere that their food was cold, I thought that maybe it was just an accident.
It’s noisy and there are people just hanging around on the sofa.
The whole thing is just strange and eerie... and to be honest, the restaurants leading up to it are better.
Sorry...

We sought out this place (still only 15-20 mins walk from Syntagma Square) and were so glad we did. An excellent meal was had in lovely surroundings. Good service from the friendly, muliti-lingual staff. Also a small kosher grocery store on sight. All round a very good point of our lovely trip to Athens.

Great Kosher experience. Good menu. Friendly staff. Would eat here anytime. We actually went for lunch on consecutive days! One of the best kosher restaurants I have ever eaten in. Try the Bifteka!

Excellent food, good selection.
Be prepared for the service to be very busy in holiday season so one needs to pre-book.
But excellent as a source for a fresh, tasty kosher meal while based in Athens.

PROS
* Good kosher restaurant- good food and good selection and presented in pleasant appealing manner
* Relaxed friendly and homey informal atmosphere
* Greeters meet the diners with mutual introductions even before the entrance into the restaurant
* Situated on side street of popular entertainment and restaurant neighborhood
* Attached and part of the Chabad of Greece
* Kosher supervision by the Chabad organization of Rabbi Mendel Hendel
* Adjacent mini grocery store to buy some packaged kosher stuff for home
* Take away prepared meals from the restaurant also offered
* Prices not inexpensive but as expected for this kind of specialty service
* A safe haven and essential resource for those who require and eat only kosher meaty food
* Group meals on Jewish Saturday and their special holidays
CONS
* Not fine intimate dining at all- sometimes almost a group atmosphere (sometimes there actually are groups)
* Meaty foods only- no milky
* Adjacent mini grocery store does not add to ambience
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because we were eating only kosher food on the weekend in Athens, and this was "the only show in town." We visited four times, including Saturday afternoon (when we ate traditional foods at a fixed price of 25 euros at a long table with 20+ other visitors), and we also had take away.
i actually enjoyed the place very much- the informal atmosphere was OK- for sure not intimate- more like a family gathering orchestrated and conducted by the leader and supervisor Rabbi Mendel Hendel, who introduced himself to us for the first time at least twice.
The food was very very good with adequate portions for the price. I had one order at least twice and my partner had different stuff which I tried and was also very pleasing. There were unique Greek dishes- maybe kosher versions of gyro and souvlaki; I didn't try those.
The down side- the pita bread was unexciting and unimaginative and not hyper fresh nor hot, and the moussaka was weird with potatoes and no meat.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
I thought that the price was fair for kosher servings but my partner thought that it was high for the quality and atmosphere level.
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
Yes for sure
ADVICE
* Be prepared to meet and identify yourselves to the greeters outside
* Know that the food is quite good, but it is only meaty servings- no milky stuff
* Enjoy the friendly family Jewish atmosphere of the hosts and maybe meet other guest diners

The food was just OK. Being the only kosher place in Athens, you either eat there or get your own food.

Great kosher restaurant serving Greek dishes. Many appetizers both cold and warm to choose from. Variety of entrees. Located close to the flea market.
