If you tour around Greece you will find thousands and thousands of ‘Traditional Greek Tavernas’. I could write the menu for all of them as they all essentially serve the same thing. And it’s not haute cuisine. If you are in Athens and you fancy a really good meal with high quality ingredients and cooking then this place is worth a try. Might cost slightly more than the usual souvlaki and chips but it is very easy to see why when you are eating.
It’s situated close to the central historical sites in Thissio and easy to find if using the map on TA.
We had really top quality food and would highly recommend

We went for a dinner to the new restaurant they recommended us. The dishes were delicious, the environment superb and the service excellent. A nice surprise was a starter they gave us with homemade bread, olives and aubergine sauce. Highly recommended!

Visited last week for a quick lunch in the center of Athens. We were amazed by the exceptional service and politeness of the stuff. In regards of the food, we tried ravioli with spinach and grilled octopus which both were extremely tasty. Stuff informed us that all their products are of protected designation of origin and specially ordered for their quality dishes. Very interesting wine menu which we will try during our next visit!

nicely located with well spaced tables on the slightly busy Heraklidon pedestrian section. can be considered a busy iterative restaurant-wise locus miraculus. the eatery is well waited, with a small food list, fine articulate response from the staff and no gourmet-gastro pomposity and grand standing. not in the least, on the contrary. the frugally portioned starters were interesting as fine business class options, apart from the salads which were mor accomodating. the starkly presented and possibly interestingly not overcooked fish was good but not animated, intelligently original, paired and garnished, generously or not so. something was missing from the whole exercise. characterful but no depth, character and independent seriousness of purpose.

We discovered Merceri restaurant in the centre of Athens and definitely we will visit it again when we come back to Athens! They serve good quality and fresh food with a variety of nice wines which are produced in Greece. Their service was excellent as they are polite with knowledge and experience (as vegetarian and with some allergies they found options and I enjoyed my dinner)! A well recommended spot either to enjoy only your cocktails and drinks or your lunch/dinner!

We were here two times during our Athens vacation - on the first evening and on the last one. It was both times spectacular. Here you can discover excellent meals with great combinations of fresh and regional ingredients, accompanied by delicious wines and perfect knowledge and professionalism of the staff (many thanks especially to Vasili and Jiota for their warm welcome in Greece!). We had a great time there and recommend this restaurant with its great team to everyone who is planning to visit this area.

Once we arrived at the restaurant the host Kostas greeted us in a great manner. He was very attentive with an eye to detail which we loved! All dishes were amazing! Highly recommend the shrimps risotto it was simply mouthwatering !!! The pace of service was great and each and every dish just excellent. They have special drink of the day. In our case it was Paloma and there were part of the mix created by the chefs. We had few more cocktails all of them perfectly balanced. Cocktails specialist also explained the choices we had and it was great as his suggestions were spot on! I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Chosen because recommended by the Michelin Guide, this restaurant is not at all up to standard. The staff was obviously overwhelmed and the food was very ordinary. The appetizer tasted nothing and the pork was so cooked that it was difficult to cut. Super long service time, error in the order and, despite several calls to the staff, we never had a service. Only one young girl tried to put the pieces together, because the ones at the reception were unfurled.

Extremely disappointed with the lobster. Its listed as a main course despite it being absolutely tiny. I finished it in 2 bites and the rest of the ingredients/sides were essentially just a sauce which wasn't very nice at all. €42 for 2 bites may be worth it if it tastes exceptional, however the lobster wasn’t very nice and neither was the sauce so i wasn’t happy having to pay such a large amount of money for such a small amount of low quality food. Certainly not michelin star quality.

This place seems to get either great reviews or terrible ones and I’m afraid it’s the latter for me!
The food was very average and the lamb was very tough and virtually inedible.
The service was awful especially at this price level and not particularly friendly.

Located a few steps from the tourist spots in the center, the restaurant is located in a strangely quiet (and therefore fascinating) area. The service was more courteous and expert than a starred restaurant - and this at completely reasonable prices. The dishes were excellent - creative, based on seasonal produce and carefully prepared.

Last evening we had a fabulous experience at Merceri here in Athens. The two wait staff Spiros and the lovely lady waitress were absolutely delightful, passionate about each detail of the food. And the food I don’t know where to start. Each item was exquisite and melt in your mouth delicious.

Cosy environment.
Food was good, especially the lobster cake as first plate and the fish as main plate.
The galaktoboureko desert was very good.
The service was very poor and not at all at the level of Michelin recommended restaurants.
The wine serving was poor, several wines were not even available, while included in the list.
Not recommended as Restaurant included in the 2022 Michelin list.

A little off the beaten track, far from the tourist crowds, is this restaurant, rightly praised by Michelin, in a quiet street. We made a reservation outside. It was worth it. For wine, we chose the Rosé Spumante from Meteora, a bargain at €26. For starters, we had the raw daily recommendations. For main course, lobster and fish. Dessert: Galaktopuriko, which was completely unexpected, and Greek yogurt with chocolate. Total €160, worth every cent. Because of the relatively high price level, there are very few local guests. Nevertheless: go and enjoy.

Inspired Greek Mediterranean cuisine with high quality and tasty dishes from Greek row materials. You have to try the hot lobster cake and the Black Angus rib eye. Great cocktails and wine list from wineries from all over Greece in a tasteful place in Thissio. Friendly and helpful service. Value for money! Soon will visit again!
