Great restaurant in the centee of Athens, next to Monastiraki metro station. We found it by chance and we were very pleased with the food, the staff, and the price. We took the meat dish for two people and we were amazed by the quality and quantity of the food. Totally recommended!

We visited Efxaris for lunch. Great lamb shops , great cucumber salads with yoghurt, and garlic bread with tapenade. Good beer, but the wine was not dry enough.

Very good food. Big portions. Good location. Dont order too much, the portions are REALLY big. Kostas is a very good host, thank you Kostas! For 38€ we had a BIG seafood plateau, 500ml wine, fries, tzatziki, water, desert. Good job!

Too good to miss on our return visit to Athens. Opted for the small shared meat platter, 17€. Enough food for 3/4 people! Nicely cooked meat, chicken, pork steak, village sausage, burger, fried potato slices, cheese and courgette balls, salad, spicy cheese dip and tzatziki. Pleasant house wine, very reasonably priced. Lovely heated outside terrace area where you can sit... More

The food is honestly priced compared to the area, tasteful and generous. The atmosphere is lively and fun. And the Guest Relations Manager is brilliant :)

My girlfriend and I wanted to eat seafood, and after few minutes of searching we found Efcharis on Tripadvisor. The place was wonderful, all waitors were smiley and have done their work really fast. Prices were very nice, and all portions were really big. We spent for about 50€ for 2 plates of shrimps, 1 liter of wine and tsatsiki,... More

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighborhood Profile
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
