If you're in Athens and you're a vegetarian, you have to eat at Avocado. No, scratch that, If you're a human being in Athens, you have to eat at Avocado. It's the cosiest little restaurant situated right next to an equally nice health shop, right in the middle of Athens. I recommend that you go the top floor and take... More

My wife and I (neither of whom are vegetarian) had dinner here on our second night in Athens and it was a delightful experience. First, the restaurant was a bit smaller and narrower than I had expected for a restaurant which made me think it was more of a coffee shop but this was quickly dismissed after we got our... More

Absolutely worth a visit. Comprehensive menu for both vegetarians and vegans. I enjoyed a vegan version of the Ceasar Salad. Super friendly staff as well. Little bonus is the bio supermarkt next door. Check out the honey!

We had lunch here with the grandchildren. Good welcome with a high chair promptly provided for the little one. Extensive all vegetarian menu, with vegan options indicated. Our order arrived promptly, big portions and some fantastic flavours. It is a bit more expensive than other Athens eating places but worth it. We are not vegetarians but we would definitely eat... What an experience! The menu is full of delicious plates with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free choices. The personnel were kind, smiley and fast! We were 8 people so I had the opportunity to try different plates. They were all amazing. It is kind of expensive but it is worthy! I am definitely back many times!

I love Athens but finding gluten free vegetarian food has been a bit of a nightmare, in spite of wonderfully welcoming Greek restaurants. In Acocado, all my problems were solved in one. Amazing food and fabulous service. I've already been back a second time.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
