This restaurant has a Spanish touch (decoration, signature dishes, wines & beers from Spain), although is not an exclusive Spanish cuisine restaurant. The restaurant is situated at a very noisy street BUT has a hidden back yard which is an oasis in the middle of chaos. Totally recommended.

A very tasty fusion of Mediterranean dishes that provides value for money on tasty food. You can get full on tapas only but we got mains as well which were equally tasty.

I have been to Salero 3-4 times and every time I was very satisfied with the food. The food is special and very tasty in quite big servings. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really good, as it has a nice back yard. Also it is a budget restaurant.

Food is most enjoyed shared! Try tasting from many small dishes and if,after all this feasting, you feel hungry you can still order a main meal. There is a set menu at 13,50 euros. This place started as a tapas bar, focused on spanish specialities but it soon included real greek delicacies like the mastelo cheese or the split peas.... More

Great seafood and wine. I really recommend the suggested dishes of the day. You can also relax with a nice cocktail at the warm and friendly yard.

Some dishes are nice, though not excellent. I had turkey burgers and they had many little pieces of bones inside, which means the whole animal was minced together. Not a great experience. Nice environment, poor service.

Considering the place was empty the service was rather unattentive. However the food was nice, reasonably priced and tasty. A bit different from the usual Greek fare.

Excellent food, nice ambience, great service. We always eat here once when in Athens, and it never disappoints. Good variety of tapas and other items, all fresh and tasty.

Staying in Exarchia

Neighborhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
