Really enjoyed outstanding seafood at this local restaurant…..fresh, delicious and expertly prepared to a standard higher than most top fish restaurants in London, Paris, NYC or Tokyo. Service was exceptional, particularly from the waitress who served us and the lady who took the orders. They...were super-efficient, friendly and professional and just couldn’t do enough to help. One member of my group proclaimed the chilli prawns to be the best starter he had ever eaten! So why the 4 stars you ask? Here’s why: The usual Greek total ambivalence when confronted with an issue. We asked for the bill (€206 for 3 with 1 glass of wine…..this is astronomical for Greek standards and should be read as €706 by international standards) and it turns out they don’t take AMEX. Not an issue in itself but when asked why, the snotty little girl who had brought it (ring thru her nose, like the pig in Lear’s “The Owl and the Pussycat) exclaimed “This is the same all over Greece. It’s not my problem!” She knew I was irked, so did her bosses but did a single one of them have the professionalism to come and chat about it….OF COURSE NOT, because they are gutless cowards who are so up their own as@&s that they actually just don’t give a damn. A great night spoiled by incompetent management. The owners ought to be ashamed to keep these type of people in work.More

We found Papadakis Restaurant by an walk by through Athens. The Restaurant looked good and very interesting. So we got a table and the evening was awesome, really a pleasure with one of the best experience we had in Athens. Carpacvio of grouper delicious, Octopus...in Honey braised with handmade chips the best surprise and one of the best I had ever in my entire life. Orzo with prawns in tomatoe sauce was solid, but nothing Special. The mandarine ice as my dessert very good, soft and perfect made. The Crew was very good, friendly and always around us. Good open wine fulfill this evening. So we decided to come again, as our last evening in Athens, our highlight of a perfect holiday week. The disaster starts… Just one person in the crew, we came early, maybe too early. She was really friendly, but too much work just for one person. The start was Kakavia Fishsoup , without fish but too much black pepper. Not good. Then we had the grouper carpaccio again, same high quality and delicious. I took at least Linguini with grouper in white wine with fried tomatoes. The Taste was good, but the linguini was slightly to raw, 1-2 minutes longer in the water were nice. The crew experience aweful, absolut ignored. Why came the second course while we are eat the soup ? No idea. The best at the evening was the Averna, which I found in the Bar with Lemon juice. I dont know what was wrong at this evening, but it was a depressing evening, total different to our first experience. Should you try Papadakis? I would say yes and I wish you the experience we had in our first visit.More

Located in the fashionable Kolonaki but in a relatively quiet area. Casual but chic setting with a very relaxing atmosphere. Very attentive service. Food excellent, worthy of the restaurant’s tradition! Emphasis on fish dishes, all well prepared and presented. Excellent desserts to follow! Definitely recommended...for a repeat visit!More

We, 5 adults, visited Papadakis on a not too busy Saturday, and must admit that the food was excellent! ... But, we all had the feeling that they wanted us out ASAP: the orders came super-fast, but empty wine-glasses were instantly removed (and only replaced...upon request). After the starters (and we explicitly told the waitress that we would order the mains after having the starters), we decided for ouzo and more white wine. Ouzo came - and were to our surprise then given the obligatory farewell mastica (!). - Again, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food, but the staff seemed extremely unprofessionnel, e.g. asking for what we would like for desserts, before we had ordered the mains, and the waitress came with another bottle of ouzo when we asked for another bottle of the excellent Greek wine we already had! - Miscommunication?? Well, Greeks cannot be praised for their good English - but (the same) waitress acknowledged that she understood us, and one of us even speaks adequate Greek ... She, and her colleagues, seemed absentminded, and that is sad for a restaurant of Papadakis' caliber. We will definitely come again IF and WHEN the staff is upgraded ...More

even though we had a reservation, our visit seemed very inconvenient for the manager/ boss. she was very unfriendly and that immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening. after only some starters we were completely done with it. a pity, because there...was nothing wrong with the food itself. definitely not recommended unless you want to be treated unkindlyMore

Unfortunately it was a disappointed experience. The food was solid, but not exceptionally amazing. However if it was just the food I dont think me or my family would have any complaints, but the service was awful. It took us an hour and a half...to get a few plates of food, and nothing that should have taken nearly that long. I mean 30 minutes for a salad and another 30 minutes after that for the next plate. It was painfully slow. The restaurant was only 30-40% full as well.More

Great meal in a restaurant focused on fish. It is a little out of the way and you would not stumble upon it but it’s worth a trip. We stayed at the grande Bretagne and it was a 10 minute walk. The meal was fresh...and tasty and good value. We had grouper and red mullet both really nice and a good bottle of Greek wine. Sitting outside was nice but perhaps not the best views. Service was friendly.More

A delightful menu and experience. We really enjoyed our evening - quiet, intimate, delicious. If you get tired of the tourist center, but don't want to go too far, this is a nice walk from the center of town. And definitely worth it.

I stopped by for a quick (late) lunch on the way to the funicular and initially balked at th e prices (much higher than other places I'd been to in Athens) but it ended up being a great stay! It's a really nice place with...outdoor seating and white tablecloths (the kind of place where they scrape the breadcrumbs off!). The salad was lovely and they gave me a small bottle of homemade strawberry liqueur just to finish the meal off! A little out of way but pay a visit if you're in the neighbourhood.More

REASON FOR VISIT This restaurant was recommended to us before a night out in Kolonaki (centre of Athens). FOOD (€270 for 4 with bottle of wine and service charge) We decided to get a couple of starters to share and then a main meal each....Looking back, the portions aren’t really made to be shared so I’d recommend you get 1 per person and stick to it. The Octopus Stew was by far the most amazing dish we had. It was so tender and so fresh, it was a delight. It’s the first time I have a sort of cooked meal with octopus rather than simply octopus on its own; really interesting dish. For main meal, I took the rib-eye steak, cooked medium rare which was delicious and cooked to perfection. The portions aren’t very large so I suggest getting a few starters and maybe some sides to go with. STAFF/SERVICE Very pleasant and English-speaking staff. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was nicely presented. ATMOSPHERE/LOCATION We chose this restaurant mainly for its close proximity to some of the city’s nightlife, namely The Clumsies bar where we went just after. The atmosphere was rather that of a high end restaurant with everyone well dressed and the staff very professional. In terms of décor, the restaurant is really nothing special and when entering, we really reconsidered if this was the right place. Trust the décor and the food will be amazing is my advice. CONCLUSION: I RECOMMEND AND WOULD RETURN PS: photos on TripAdvisor of the food don’t make it justice!More

I cannot imagine a rating less than 5. It must have been a strange evening. They could not have been more accommodating when we arrived. They were very helpful in making the food selection and wines. They alerted us that the salad, which was delicious,...could be shared The fish for two prepared with oil and salt was delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend it for food and service as a must go to placeMore

We were a group of 10 including kids, so we had the opportunity to order quite a few dishes from the menu and share them. All where great. The salads, the starters, the seafood pasta, the meat dishes and the deserts. Try the cream pie....I am guessing that it is not always available, but if so, try the mandarin sorbet. Always happy when I find wines from Muses Estate, try the Lisgari which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Mouchtaro. Service was of high standards.More

Sorry I didn't see this sooner! No, the prices are not overly high at Papadakis. There are other more expensive restaurants in Athens with less quality.
