Yiasemi is beautiful restaurant located write in the heart of the Plaka neighborhood. While there is beautiful seating along the stairs, the rooftop patio is where it’s at. The patio was fully covered with multiple air con machines blowing as well as a healthy breeze...from the sea to keep you cool. Every staff member was incredibly kind and helpful. Everything we ate was DELICIOUS! By far our favorite meal in a Athens. We tried two forms of baked/fried cheeses then mousaka, eggs & fries, and a pasta dish. Not to mention the freshly made juices and lemonades. Everything was delicious. My first bite of mousaka was a transcendent experience. We will definitely try to visit again before the end of our trip!More

We came here for drinks and a snack, and had a carafe of white wine, tarama salata and fava. We sat on the steps and, although it was a little crowded, it was a great spot to absorb the atmosphere of central Athens. The prices...are perhaps a little high compared to other places in the city, but you are paying for the lovely setting. Our dinner was punctuated with performances from street musicians, which really livened up the atmosphere.More

Breakfast was lovely. We had fresh bread, butter, jam, cake & warm boiled eggs. All homemade. Filter coffee was smooth and piping hot. All round good breakfast. Service was attentive.

You will only pay for the place. The owner has no time, you have no consideration and he is even rude. The food is normal, not bad but not very good too.

Wonderful place! You can sit outside on the stairs, inside or on the rooftop terrace. Very friendly services and great food. They serve a lot of different and tasteful mezze. Everything is homemade!

We came here for lunch and it was delicious. Lovely atmosphere and would recommend over the more touristy places next to it.

'This is without a doubt one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city,' says the 'GREECE IS' magazine. Big deal and fair enough. But it doesn't compensate for the appallingly slow service, mediocre coffee and minuscule omelettes and other snacks that passed as a...rooftop breakfast for four. Take your money and Instagram accounts elsewhere.More

I am in Athens for a brief stopover before heading off to the Peloponnese and so have spent the day sightseeing. I found Yiasemi when I was researching places to eat in Plaka before I left the UK and I was not disappointed. On arrival...I was given a very friendly welcome and offered a few options of where to sit. I chose a cosy corner in the courtyard that was festooned with potted plants, all very green and lush and importantly away from the bustle of the narrow stepped street at the front but still outside, albeit sheltered from the midday sun, perfect. One of the reasons for me choosing Yiasemi is the menu choice for vegetarians. I don't normally have much of a problem in Greece anyway but some of the restaurants, especially in tourist hotspots like Plaka can be rather meat heavy. I decided to go for the fixed price menu which was basically any salad from the menu along with any of the pies or tarts along with a dessert and a wine, beer or ouzo. I chose a Greek salad along with a mushroom and pine nut tart, along with a beer and orange cake to follow. I was also given a complimentary glass of water. The salad wasn't your usual basic of cucumber, tomato, pepper and onion with a few olives and three squares of feta. Oh no, this salad had massive wedges of tomato, lots of cucumber, red and green peppers, a chilli pepper and capers as well as olives. And a massive chunk of feta on top. The tart was delicious and clearly home made, not too much pastry. The cake was very light and flavoursome. Washed down with my beer I spent a very enjoyable time eating a leisurely lunch, not feeling rushed at all which gave me ample time to rest as I had been doing a lot of walking all morning. I wish I was in Athens longer as I would love to go back. I intend to return to Athens and will definitely revisit Yiasemi. Highly recommendedMore

Visited this place after seeing the reviews on Tripadvisor but was a disappointing experience. We got to order after half an hour, another half an hour for salad to arrive in a dirty plate. There are much better places on the same street.

As a gentleman with some cake experience, this place has perhaps the best carrot cake in the world, and offer a huge portion. The meals are also good, and the coffee okay. But dessert... Will be back tomorrow.

If you want to experience Plaka at his finest, you will have to see the stairs. It is touristy, but Yiasemi offers a great option to literally sit on the stairs. It is a great way to feel the neighborhood. The service was good and...the beer tasted nice. Go here for a nice drink with a view from the stairs.More

This place is rustic, warm and very cool. Kind of rock the casbah and an old Greek family home. Quiet and gear vibe. Friendly and the sort of place you could chill for hours. Food is good and the teas are excellent.
