A Plaka tavern frequented by Athenians, who appreciate its uncommon Greek cuisine at very reasonable prices. Here you will taste Greek dishes unavailable at your average touristy Plaka taverna.

Stopped in for a snack and we were very glad we did. Definitely try the meatballs, they were next level good. The saganki cheese with honey was like nothing I have ever had, an incredible combo of sweet, salty and spicy. The owner was very accomodating for our group and gave us a free slurpy at the end. Definitely recommend.

This place is great! Off the tourist track and has a much more traditional feel. The meat balls and saganaki with honey was amazzzzzing. We also got a free slushie after our meal!

Really good experience. Family styled greek food. Meatballs with sauce is must have. Also fava was nice. Try house wine, it was one of the best we tried in Athens.

Just off the beaten track in a small alley, a row of small tables lining a woodscreen wall, adourned with flowerbaskets. Service is very welcomIng and easygoing - a relief from the busy tourist places of the Plaka. The food is superb, well balanced, subtle and flavourful. You have to try the meatballs in THE sauce, a very rich tomato... More

My husband and I stayed at the Plaka and I remembered seeing this restaurant review on tripadvisor and we were able to find it easily; we ate here as our first meal in Athens. We sat outside and found it to be just enough off the main street to be relaxing yet enjoyed the people-watching. The staff was courteous and... More

We decided to come here based on its tripadvisor rating. Oh my, I regretted it. We ordered the famous meatball with the sauce which tasted cold, dry, and hard with regular tomato sauce. Nothing special. We also ordered the fava plate which wasn't bad. We also had Sardines and dolmades, but they weren't good. I'm not sure why this place... More

Delightful! Away from the bustle of the more touristy parts of the plaka, this place was full of locals and felt like a real find! About a dozen table on the cobblestone "street". The food was very authentic, with lots of wonderful spices. I especially loved the special family recipe meatballs and eggplant salad.

It's highly recommended that you call and make a reservation to the restaurant. We were seated outside in what appeared to be an alley (with tons of stray cats EVERYWHERE), but it was decorated with charm. The service might've been a tad slow for my taste, but it didn't seem like there were many waiters on hand. Like I mentioned... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
