Very good restaurant with VERY cosy interior, attentive waiters, carefully picked music to match the vibe and delicious food. It is a lovely restaurant in the heart of Athens near Acropolis, and we couldn’t recommend it more. One of the most heartwarming restaurants I visited this summer, it reminds a country home of grandma and it has all the love and care you could imagine!!

We were blown away by this restaurant! When I say everything was delicious, I mean everything!! I had one of the most balanced and delicious dirty martinis 🍸 I’ve ever had! The octopus salad was so tasty! We had the fresh fish and chicken ballentine! Hats of the the chef bc the flavors were tantalizing and exquisite together! We literally ate every last bite!! The bread was so fresh and the soup base dip was perfect to dip the bread. The atmosphere of this restaurant is so quaint and beautiful. We loved decor!! Definitely a MUST if visiting Athens.

Amazing restaurant! The food was the best I had during my 2 weeks in Greece! Not only fresh and well prepared, but creatively conceived. The ceviche was like a Greek salad with lemon marinated fish chunks, delicious. The special green bean Sal was perfectly cooked , fresh and well seasoned. The fresh fish was excellently cooked and seasoned. We also had great service. I can’t recommend this place enough after a day on the acropolis.

Saw this restaurant, menu looked good and was next to our hotel. Checked our the reviews on Trip advisor, all 5 star so went for dinner. Big mistake, really odd place, old fashioned and decked out like an old relatives front room complete with cat asleep on the chair at one of the tables, with party streamers and whistle on the table. We were the only diners and the mother and son (we guessed) that served us lacked any hospitality skills. We got one glass of wine, never offered a refill. I had the veal stifado which at 25 euros was expensive compared to other places we had been, there was just 4 cubes of veal and a small serving of mash. To be fair it was tasty but not worth the money. Overall a massive disappointment

We had a delicious meal and a great experience in this unique restaurant.
Fava beans with scallops was plenty to share and really interesting and tasty combination. We had orzo with seafood which worked extremely well and was well flavoured and full of seafood.
The staff were lovely and we chatted to others in the restaurant who also enjoyed their meals.

This is the place to go to when you want to experience the best 24 hour slow cooked lamb shank … cooked in red wine not water.
Try starting with a crab salad to give a contrast.
This is worth the effort, quirky and different, but worth the effort because of the quality of the culinary experience. don't leave Athens without trying it. :)

Pleasantly quaint small restaurant. We had a slow-cooked lamb which was delicious, portion and side vegetables were on the small side. Desserts were a disappointingly stodgy Greek yogurt brûlée and a quirky “Childhood Memories” dessert with cotton candy and strawberries in a chocolate sauce.
We were given a small appetiser of creamy feta, thought it was a nice touch until the bill came and we had been charged 3 Euros each for it. Also the majority of places in Athens automatically bring water to the table, here we asked for water and bottled water was brought.
Disappointed that an ostensibly small family restaurant would resort to the tricks of a tourist trap. Some good food and ambience.

My family and I dined here our last night in Greece. We had been on Kephalonia and the Southern Peloponnese and had really tried a lot of Greek cuisine. What was SO amazing about this place was that it had traditional food--fired, for example, but elevated with a kiwi jam. You can really tell the chef of trying to do new and inventive things with Greek cuisine, and we really appreciated this for our last meal. They were very accommodating to our 11 year old (who asked for his sauce on the fish to be on the side). The atmosphere was lovely, service warm and food amazing. Honestly, I'd go to Athens just to eat here.

What a find!
From the moment we arrived to closing the door behind us we very much felt part of the family.
We had some trouble with calling up our vaccine records which created a lovely opportunity for chat (exploited later by the waiting staff choosing a particular piece of music that matched our name!)
Service was attentive but discreet. The decor is beautiful, like being in someone's home and with the fire, cosy against the rain outside.
We ate well - a complimentary soup, starters (cauliflower for me, mushrooms for him) and both had the same main. The wine was perfect but I was done in by dessert.
I can't recommend Ellevoro highly enough. I'd have gone back every night if I'd had my way!

We had an excellent dinner here. Fresh and innovative Greek cuisine - luckily not in the cheap price segment, so everything was fresh and individually prepared. It was also beautifully presented. In terms of taste, it was one of the best we experienced in Athens. A recommendation away from the usual tourist restaurants!

I accidentally found this gem of a restaurant a couple blocks from my hotel. Each plate was designed and crafted with amazing love and attention to the smallest detail. The food and ambience was just about perfect. When i think of Athens in years to come i will first remember this restaurant and the beautuful meals i enjoyed there. I return home tomorrow but when i return to Athens i will make this my first stop

We decided to give this cosy and seemingly sympathetic restaurant a go on February 14 and booked almost two weeks in advance. On booking nothing was ever mentioned of a set menu for the specific night.
Upon arriving at 9pm a five course set menu was presented in which all but one dish were fish based. My wife is allergic to fish and so we were off to a bad start. We asked if the kitchen could prepare a salad as a starter for my wife and the waitress said “no, it can’t because it’s a “dé gustastion” menu”.
At that point we should have decided to leave, but we said, how bad could it be; I can glide through the first dishes and then enjoy the main course with my wife. Little did we know...
We noticed that they only started serving all tables only after their last reservation came in and proceeded to a next dish after everybody had finished their current dish. In the meantime no attention was paid to us whatsoever, nobody was serving us wine and no attempt to make us feel welcomed.
Past 11pm after three mediocre dishes, they were still at the third dish. When asked if they could bring the meat dish forward they said “no, the order must be kept and you will eat at the same time as all other guests”.
When we pointed out that their menu presented the fourth dish as a choice between meat or fish, they repeated that it wasn’t like that and that it was “a dé gustastion” experience and we needed to wait until the kitchen produced the dishes for all the guests in the same turn.
At that point I asked for the bill, which I paid in full and we left.
Their only concern was if they were going to get paid, they never apologized for anything, that they made us feel as obliged to follow their rigid rule of treating the whole restaurant as a single table. In Greek we call this “συσσίτιο».
Leaving the place they still didn’t understand why we were upset and discomforted. And obviously they haven’t got a clue about the difference between a set menu and a “de gustastion” menu.
Horrible service, bad attitude, mediocre food. Highly NOT recommend.

According to the report of andreasa475 (no name…).
Mr. “Anonymous”,
Let’s begin with the basic terminology (that you mentioned that we don’ t know):
The Wikipedia determination of “de gustastion” menu is the following:
“Dégustation is the careful, appreciative tasting of various food, focusing on the gustatory system, the senses, high culinary art and good company. Dégustation is more likely to involve sampling small portions of all of a chef's signature dishes in one sitting.”
Our proposal for that specific day has been seated at our page in facebook from the 1st day of February (as you can easily realize by taking a look at the red cycled information of the following image, or at the https://www.facebook.com/669169929925436/videos/pcb.1488048874704200/179440556488008/)
Moreover, whenever we accepted a phone call for reservation we additionally informed everyone about the menu.
Sincerely, till now we cannot understand the reason that you didn’t respect the other clients, the place, the day, and our personal employees.
How can you say that you were not informed in advance, and how could it possibly happen for anyone interested not to see the menu?
Even then, when you came and were (once more) informed about the menu, you had the chance to leave. You didn’t do it. You preferred to stay and argue for something that was obviously unchangeable and determined from the 1st of February. You started shouting and behave like someone who did not respect anything (respecting our principles and the visitors of tripadvisor, we wouldn’t like to mention analytically which were the words that you were using). Each of our continual and noble effort to calm you down seemed failing, talking to someone who couldn’t (or wouldn’t like to) listen.
Listen to the common sense.
Listen to what the other clients explained (it’s true that two of the customers sitting to “neighboring” tables had also tried to explain you).
As everyone knows in a “de gustastion” menu the different plates come in a specific series. So the proposal from our waitress was if you wanted to wait till the plate in which your wife were not allergic. For a while you seemed to calm and understand and agreed to do so. But unfortunately, after some minutes you started again shouting…
Finally you left by succeeding to create an agitation situation destroying for a while the wonderful and lovely atmosphere of that specific day, that we and our rest clients had established.
Honestly speaking, we have run that restaurant for decades us a part of our family (my grandmother, my mother, me myself, and hopefully my children at the future!). Each day we give our soul to that, aiming to the satisfaction of our clients. We have never faced such a bad –totally uncivilized- behavior. There is no need to mention or to continue arguing with someone who didn’ t respect the other clients, the working people, the place, the day,
and before and over of all those,
there is no need to argue with someone that can not respect himself.
It’s a matter of principles.
Elena Fragoulia
Director of Ellevoro
P.S.: According to the description of our menu as a “sisitio”, we have to tell you that it is the first time that we listen a so fully reach “sisitio”, including lobster necklace,
sea scallops, grouper, and beef. Sorry to mention, but it seems that except the basic gastronomy terminology you have some “ellipses” in Greek language.

Fantastic restaurant! Great location in a nice area, just along from the Acropolis museum. Really beautiful and quaint decor right down to the elaborate cutlery, the little antique TV and well chosen music. Service was impeccable. Very friendly, professional and the house red was very nice, smooth and was great with the food. We had the potato soup....delicious with the lovely added ingredients, the cheese starter, bread and dip. Amazing flavours put together in these dishes and cooked to perfection. We had gnocchi for the mains and again, very nice flavours. We watched them being asked by other diners for things really outside their remit but they were lovely, patient and kind with them. Truly lovely people who care about their customers having a great experience. I will be back whenever I'm in Athens. Every time. 100% recommended!

The Greek folksey décor belies the innovative treatment of Greek Grandma's recipes that delight the palate. We returned twice to this restaurant, found purely by chance, and enjoyed the best food on our Greek trip. Not to be missed.

We found this beautiful restaurant by accident near our rental and what a lucky find! Fine dining at only a slightly higher price than the generic restaurants a few blocks away by the Acropolis. We had lamb, veal and shrimp. Every dish was excellent, each element creative and perfectly seasoned. Rivals our favorite fine dining restaurants.

Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
