I have read the other notes and agree, however you have to listen to my story. Firstly food in Greece is cheap. My experience was we got to the restaurant just before the sun was down, OK the hostess was not overly friendly but was still nice, we walked up the stairs to the second level and to our left... What a wonderful view! We had dinner here our last evening in Athens and it was the perfect send-off for our vacation! A beautiful clear night sky with a huge moon rising behind the Acropolis! We were seated promptly and the food was delicious. Wonderful atmosphere

We wanted to eat somewhere that had a nice view of the Acropolis at night. Our hotel recommend this restaurant. I read the reviews beforehand and saw some mixed reviews and mentions of the high prices, so I was a little apprehensive. We were seated outside on one of decks and had a beautiful view of the Acropolis. First and... More

Recommended to us by a Greek based business women this proved to be an excellent place for a late breakfast after claiming up the Acropolis. There is a peaceful boutique feel to dining here with a view up to Pantheon as you eat despite it being perilously close to the coach/car park and hop on hop off stop for the... More

A table with good view is guaranteed in this huge and lovely restaurant. We sat outdoor in mid Oct, weather was lovely, the full moon made the Acropolis view even more stunning. Food was delicious but overpriced. €17 for a starter but the portion was huge. Black orzo pasta with mixed fish for main course which was lovely. The service... More

Dionysos is High end for Athens standards and pricing. The view is to die for and is one of their key selling points. The menu boasts a great selection of dishes. The govenment, and for a while now has forced establishments to state if any of their products are frozen. Dionysos chose to just place an asterix * next to... More

The food is good, not amazing, but good. The prices are quite elevated, but could be understandable due to the proximity to Acropolis and that the place is frequented by Greeks "crème de la crème" of the society.

We honestly ate dinner here because we wanted at least one night out with an acropolis view, but we were more than pleased with the food. Husband had a traditional lamb dish, and I ordered an eggplant risotto that was actually pretty fabulous. The view is lovely - we will never forget dining under the Acropolis. Some people were there... More

First night in Athens, we went walking toward the lights of the Acropollis. A light rain turned to a torrent and lightening storm, so we grabbed a cab and asked the driver to take us to a bar or restaurant with a view of the Acropolis. Dionysos Zonar's was the driver's pick. It's 60s moderne architecture pops in the shadow... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
