That Dionysos Zonar's has a great location is undisputable. You can see the Acropolis from the windows, the streets around the area are great for a walk and there is plenty of parking space for the tourist buses. But I actually went there because I heard that the food was great as well. Things started to go wrong from the... More

There's no doubt that the view is great, but so is the service, food and ambiance. We were on holiday but we felt easily comfortable in this unpretentious but elegant restaurant. There's a talented pianist who adds just the right touch with his tunes, keeps it classy and enjoyable. Great evening !

The hotel recommended and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is elegant, but not nouveau riche, the service is impeccable and the food very good. Not the cheapest restaurant, but worth the price.

We love Dionysos.... We do not visit often, but we do visit special. We trust this place that will give our guests (especially from abroad) an excellent sense of Greek cuisine and a breathtaking view. We trust this place that can accommodate all of out extended family, demanding and tiring every New Year day lunch. Food gets better and better... More

First of all the service was great! The food was amazing oh and that view! I had the salmon which was simply delicious! I love salmon and often get very disappointed by restaurants that can't do it properly. I can honestly say this was one of the top 3 salmons I've ever had. Jeez I sound like some salmon freak.... Best view in town. Maybe. Food definitely not. Great big plates and fancy atmosphere but the food other than great looks was not as tasty.

This is a fairly large restaurant with inside seating and two large terraces. The service is good and some of the waiters speak reasonably good English. You get better service and food recommendations if you speak Greek. The menu has standard upscale Greek dishes. The wine list offers an average choice for a restaurant of this price class. If you... Very close to the acropolis. Have a coffee shop on the lower level and restaurant above. Do not discount this place walking up the drive as it is definitely worth a visit. Wish we'd gone back.

Came here with my boyfriend during our trip to Athens and it was picture perfect. The service, the ambience, the view of the Acropolis, and the food were all just amazing. All these elements come together to provide a once in a lifetime experience. My favorite meal in Athens so far!!!

The view at this restaurant is fantastic. We ate here and were just simply in love with the view. The food is good at the restaurant (portions are not huge but ample) and the service is well done with no rushing. The menu is priced a bit high but you are paying for a view that is spectacular. We ordered... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
