The view of Acropolis from the restaurant at night is spectacular. The place is posh and classy. When we first arrived, we were even turned away, despite having our reservation made a week ago! This was because it was raining that night and there was a corporate event. It was only after when we mentioned that we are celebrating a... More

The view of the Acropolis is great from this spot but that's clear. The inside area looks very nice but it was a beautiful September afternoon when we came for lunch so we sat outside. We shared a fresh salad and a couple of beers and then my wife had some pasta while I ordered a burger (I hadn't had... More

To be clear: you don't dine here for the food, you come for the Acropolis view. The Mousaka and our other dishes were above average - certainly better than the local taverna - but for €20 you'd better eat it slowly while gazing up at Athena's temple. Pleasant outside seating and good service.

Great view, this is why one pays so much. We had fish, which was nicely cooked, the rocket salad was not something to remember, the wine list very interesting and the dessert (chocolate something) was super. Due to the main target group of this restaurant, which are the tourists, the menu is full of traditional Greek food. As locals, we... More

Great view of the Acropolis & a romantic place to dine however the experience was ruined by our inattentive waiter. Two of us ordered wine by the glass since one likes red & one likes white, another in our party ordered a cocktail. Well the waiter never stopped by during our entire meal to ask if we wanted another drink... More

Great lunch spot when we wanted to see the Acropolis and Parthanon, but didn't want to fight the crowds or the heat to climb it. Lovely lunch. Service was okay, not bad...but not exceptional either. It's pricey, but you're paying for the view!

One of our favourite meals in Greece. The stunning view of the Acropolis is the draw, but the food and service maintained the standard. We had a delectable grilled octopus for a starter and enjoyed the wine recommended. My lamb with lemon sauce was exceptionally good. We opted for the traditional Greek assortment platter for dessert - all delicious. Service... More

Wow. Everything we had here was amazing. First of all, the views of the Acropolis are unbelievable here from pretty much anywhere you sit, especially at night. It is just gorgeous. Our hotel recommended this place and we were very impressed with everything from the service to the food. Service is slow here, but it's slow everywhere and it was... More

Good food and a great spot to people watch. The service is very sharp and they seat you as quickly as tables become available.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
