Visited in late June and relatively early in midday hence we were alone, so great to enjoy the beautiful view to Acropolis. Plates are classic Greek but with a bit more originality and stylishly made. Relatively expensive for Athens

We went here twice during our one week stay in Athens and both visits were wonderful. The starter of moussaka is to die for, never had I had moussaka so rich and creamy. Beautiful! I also would highly recommend the pork mastelo. It is a slow cooked, stew type of dish with onion, potatoes and vegetables in a rich sauce/gravy.... More

Worth 3 exclamation points!!! We got the tip from a random cab driver when we asked for restaurant with a rooftop Acropolis view. Food was delicious!!! I recommend the parchment wrapped kid goat, but my friend gives props to the perch with tomato & garlic. Antonious the waiter was super accommodating, even though we didn't have reservations and he was... More

The food is exceptional Greek food, prepared with care. Very good wine list and excellent service. Even with a reservation, we were unable to get a table on the roof with the view of the Parthenon, but as we finished our meal, the waiter said to come up to the roof anyway for our dessert since a table had come... All I have to say is this restaurant is amazing! And a must for anyone travelling to Athens. Service was impeccable, the manager/owner came out and introduced himself. Offered us some drinks on the house! Just a perfect place to spend a romantic evening.

We had a wonderful dinner her on recommendation of our hotel and friends. I had the goat in parchment with Gruyere potatoes etc it was DIVINE. My friend had the pork mastelo also wonderful! View of the Parthenon in a lovely subdued environment. Large open windows, so gorgeous. Quiet music, great service, leisurely date-like atmosphere reasonable priced. One of the... More

nothing special , I have visited better places for a combination of value for services . Food was average, nothing special . Atmosphere not truly friendly. Could feel people acting and pretending.. They were trying to sell the Acropolis as their own creation !!!! Service was slow......

I recommend making reservations here if you're planning on going for dinner. They plan on you staying for quite a while to socialize so they won't give you a table if they have upcoming reservations already in place- for example we arrived at 7 and they said "well we can take you but you must be out by 9" which... The view is absolutely stunning, the air breeze really makes you feel cool but when it comes to taste and flavours the quality is not exactly as expected...I mean we were ten people and we ended up paying 420 euro...That is way too expensive for meat mixed plates, wine, apetizers and they wouldn't even treat us with dessert without having... Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
