My husband and I just returned from our 2 week trip to Greece. Banderia was hands down our favorite meal of the entire trip. It was so good, we ended up going twice! Banderia offers an innovative approach on traditional Greek dishes without being pretentious while still being extremely reasonably priced. Every single dish was phenomenal and they made the BEST Moussaka we’ve EVER had. Service was exceptional with each person being friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanting to make sure they were providing the best experience. I would make Banderia a priority when visiting Athens and would not be surprised if they receive a Michelin star in the near future!

My favorite restaurant in Athens discovered by chance while walking. A warm welcome, an interior room on the ground floor and an outdoor terrace but the most beautiful room for me is a cocoon upstairs. The food menu is refined, the fish is to die for at a very affordable price, the kindness of the waiters and the little extra at the end of the meal when you ask for the bill they bring you a free dessert with a smile. The Greek wine list of course is excellent at a very affordable price served in the bottle or by the glass. The best one for me. Simply a delight

Nice welcome, efficient service, neat decor and well above average dishes, classic Greek cuisine revisited, it is very very good. The candied pork shoulder 24h orange sauce for two people (32€ for 2) is really excellent, the Greek salad with a simit (round bread crown with sesame) is very well made and seasoned as well as the hot fava superbly seasoned, and everything else, very good Greek wines, and dessert is offered and very good also (hot cake with honey and mascarpone or equivalent). Really moderate prices for quality (70€ to 5 without wine).

Avoid this restaurant
The Chicken souvlaki: dried chicken thigh smothered in bbq sauce, stuffed into an orange and lit on fire. Served with French fries and dry pita bread, with Thai chili sauce. Seemed like a lot of confusion what type of cuisine they were serving.
The saganaki was another immense disappointment coming dry and drenched with an overly sweet honey.
The dukos salad was advertised as herby and fresh, but in reality was a round mold of tomatoes with chunks of bread.
When asked by our server how the meal was , we said awful, as we couldn’t eat it, he questioned why we didn’t bring it to his attention, but we were unable to get ANYONEs attention the entire time we had our mains.
Asked for a dry rose wine, were served something sweet and fruity.
Do not visit this restaurant. The owner didn’t make us pay, but we were more disappointed that we ruined our appetites for actual Greek food. We had high hopes but we chose the wrong restaurant, don’t make this mistake !

Fantastic restaurant, I was in Athens for a 3 day break and this place is so good I went there twice. The first time was a Thursday and I had no trouble getting a table, the staff are very friendly and I had the best Octopus I ever ever eaten. Their meat dishes all looked delicious as I watched other diners and the house red was good and value for money at 7 Euros for half a litre. A sweet is included with the meal. A small honey cake and some ice cream, just enough. The second time was Saturday and they were fully booked, it is essential to book on a Saturday but in my case they recognised me from my previous visit and made up a table just for me. Excellent service and extremely friendly, the place has a lovely atmosphere and is very welcoming , I saw a large cross section of other dinners all of whom seemed to be having a good time. Highly recommend this friendly restaurant.

We were recommended this restaurant by family in Athens and have to say it did not disappoint!
We managed to get a table at around 18:30 but would recommend booking as they were fully booked from 20:00 (on a Saturday).
We had a starter of tzatziki and pitta bread, and the meatballs which were really good - light but very tasty. For main we enjoyed the lamb which was perfectly cooked.
The staff were all friendly and service was quick. The price was very reasonable compared to other places in Athens (especially in Plata)!
Thanks for a great evening!

Great relaxed afternoon in Bandiera.
We went this afternoon for a few hours. The food was fantastic - good quality fresh ingredients and well seasoned/flavoured. We would recommend everything we had, which included: pitta & tzatziki. Roasted vegetables and halloumi. Lamb. Tomahawk pork steak. We were served complimentary shot and desert at the end of our meal.
The drinks were good and served quickly. We felt that for the quality of food and service we received, the prices were very good.
Staff were great - friendly, kind, and attentive without being overbearing. The owner/manager popped over for a quick chat, and he was very friendly and welcoming.
There is plenty of seating inside and out. We sat inside. The establishment is decorated well and was pleasant to be in. The tables are spaced well, not too crowded like many other places. The bathrooms are well maintained and clean.
We felt relaxed, comfortable, and welcome. We would highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely return next time we are in athens.

Since we were not able to contact the restaurant by email to make a reservation, I called them directly. I had to wait for a while to talk with someone to make a reservation, and finally I talked with Visiliki (I believe was her name). I made a reservation through her for four adults for dinner at 7:30 on Saturday, May 4. That (almost $10) phone call was several weeks prior to May. I asked Vasiliki if she would send us an email confirmation, but she said she was all the confirmation we needed, as she was a very long-term employee and was in charge of reservations. I took her word for it. We arrived at Bandiera at 7:15 on Saturday, May 4, only to see that the restaurant was closed. We had to scramble at that time on a Saturday evening to find a substitute, but a last-minute cancellation at Thes (across the street) enabled us to eat there.
Bandiera needs a system to contact people if they're not going to be able to honor their word! This was a terrible disappointment on our first trip to Greece.

What a magical and lovely dinner, it was superb from start to finish.
We arrived early for our reservation, we were greeted by a friendly and oh so helpful woman, she was apologetic she did not have a table at the ready, but we were 30 minutes early- she brought all 4 of us a very large pour of a beautiful fruity white wine, typical of Greek Sav Blanc, a great start.
Our table was ready 5 minutes early, outside - what an excellent experience on this busy and well lit restaurant row in the old market district, check #2.
On to ordering, the menu is vastly expanded with multiple culinary delights from a simple farm salad to an ornate piece of art- met salad- we loved everything we saw, so we asked the waitress ( same wonderful woman) to pick for us!
Wowzers were we sent on a magic culinary carpet ride of flavors. Superb presentation and fabulous diversity in use of spices and types of prep.
We had lamb and pork shanks roasted in. Clay pots for 8 hours, potatoe croquettes form another planet and a very beautiful Greek ratatouille Is the name?with fresh feta . Followed by a lovely homemade after dinner wine and tiny ( mouth watering) personal dessert in a little cup That was( a fsrm cske with flavored sweet cream) both at no charge! This was not only our favorite restaurant in Greece this trip but of our entire 1 month trip through Germany, Austria, puglia Italy and Greece. This is a must if you are planning a culinary excursion in Athens. I would give them 10 stars if I could, which I have never done. 100% Fabulousness on a plate.

We went with a group of five and really enjoyed it and the plates we shared. The restaurant itself is cozy and charming and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The food was fantastic and fresh. Our favourite items were the grilled squid and seabass but we also enjoyed the moussaka, saganaki cheese, pita bread and the roasted vegetables. They provided us with a small Greek dessert with ice cream after a meal.
Reservations are recommended and when we were told that it would take half an hour to get a table but we lucked out and got a table after 10 minutes.
The restaurant is closest to Monastiraki metro station and about a 10 minute walk away. The streets are lined with lots of restaurants, shops and bars so you'll find plenty of things to enjoy in this area.

Highly recommended,
High quality food from the highest quality raw materials, the moussaka is dreamy in general, everything is delicious, we were not disappointed with any dish.
Excellent service at such a level that we waited 5 minutes for the table we ordered and as compensation we received a bottle of wine as a gift.
And with Athens prices, we got 63 euros for two starters and three main courses.
We forgot to take a photo of the first Syrian, Greek salad and eggplant with cheese.

We were there twice during our 5-night vacation. The first time we came across it spontaneously and we were really impressed.
Really good service and food.
Definitely worth recommending.
What you get for the price is more than generous.
Try the souvlaki skewers or the lamb.

The place is very busy, we requested a table for dinner and they told us to return at 10:30 p.m., we did and when we arrived they didn't have a table. They wanted to make us order standing up because the kitchen closed at 11 so that as soon as someone got up they would sit us down and serve us in 10 minutes, with very bad manners as well as threatening. We said we were leaving and they waved goodbye as if with sarcasm and gestures of victory. TERRIFIC staff treatment. We will never know about the food. The good thing is that there are thousands of places around that serve you as you should.

Moderate, satisfying experience for all needs. Moderate salads, satisfying servings which are mainly light variations from modern dishes based on the Greek cuisine. The restaurant staff is helpful, especially the professionalism and the tourist area in which it is located. The visit is recommended.

We tried to go for dinner on Sunday and it was packed. We left a table reserved for Tuesday because they close on Mondays.
They treated us very well. We ordered chicken skewers that were delicious, a very delicious moussaka and lamb that was spectacular.
They invited us for dessert, ice cream with cake.
Excellent value for money
