Perfect location. Amazing food. Friendly staff, great service. Would of given 5 stars but couldn't for one personal problem experienced by myself as a disabled person.
If it is that I was unaware if there was a separate disabled toilet, but certainly there wasn't a visible sign for one. I went into the ladies toilet which I managed ok. However the toilet seat was the lowest I had experienced anywhere before. When trying to return up onto my feet again I couldn't do it physically! I was stuck for ages creating quite some pain to myself in order to eventually achieve this. There was nothing to grab hold of to pull myself up.
This was such a shame as everything else as I have mentioned, was just perfect in every way. I would more then love to return again, but if I could suggest some sort of grab rails for disabled people like myself, I would definitely be upping my rating to 5 star! Apologies for the moan but it just left me a bit shook up being stuck for so long.

We phoned to book a table and were told (by a man) there was no table available inside, but we could eat in the garden. When we arrived the bar staff said we could eat in one of two indoor areas, so we chose our table.
After ordering our food, a man came over and in a very quiet (unconvincing) voice, asked us to go outside as someone was allergic to dogs!!
Strange that no one sitting ‘behind’ us went to the bar to complain in the few minutes we sat at the table and the only other person we saw was a gentleman who asked what breed our dog was and made a fuss if him.
I was taken aback with the alleged allergy claim, especially as it was an airy room, the door leading outside was open, plus our dog doesn’t moult.
I couldn’t help but think the man just didn’t want us inside, after all, if it was the people behind us that had an allergy issue, surely they’d just have said.
Hubby ‘accepted’ the request, although I had to relay what we’d been told to him as it was said sp quietly. Had I been on my own I would have told him what to do with the food we’d ordered, paid for the drinks and left.
Food duly arrived and was very basic. Needless to say we won’t be going back!

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a country pub even though it’s surrounded by beautiful dog walks and stunning countryside. We made the mistake of leaving our dogs in the car and popping in for a quick drink after a lovely walk with the kids- which we planned to have outside in the winter sunshine. It felt like the scene from American Warewolf in London!! Whatever you do don’t walk in to the bar area (with tiled floor) in wellie boots, you’ll be made most unwelcome! Would not recommend or return.

we booked for 5 people with 4 guide dog pups as always made to feel welcome and excellent food and service. there was a delay but we were advised of that and we weren't disappointed

The staff were very helpful, food excellent plenty of choice on a varied menu, real olde worlde type of public house/restaurant. Would recommend this place to anyone.
The steaks and meat we had were very well cooked and they also had a good variety of beers available.
