I really like to thank the doce alto for helping me with my friends birthday. I contacted them from holland when I was arranging a surprise for my friends birthday. I orderd two delicious cubcakes and the delivered it to our hotel. Normally they only do delivery from a different price but for me they made an exception. Very kind... The cupcakes were very tasty. I have contacted them through WhatsApp and email, because I live in Italy and my daughter was getting married civilly in Porto. We had no plans to have a party but I didn't want to leave aside the fact that they would spoil the wedding cake. Despite not having the time necessary to order a wedding cake and also not needing a large one because we were only ten people together, it was no problem for this bakery to find the right solution. That day was also my birthday and my son said to order a small cake for me as well. There was the problem that we did not have a restaurant or specific place where they would take the cakes and despite this, they were patient until the last moment waiting to know the place and bring the cakes. The service and attention is unsurpassed and as for the quality of the cakes, they are very exquisite and fresh, everyone loved them and not a single piece was left. A place where you can eat from breakfast until late afternoon and even bring dinner home. Everything is wonderful. From the food, bakery, pastries, sweets, cakes, etc... The service is provided with great friendliness and efficiency. If you need them to prepare everything you want for a party, snack, dinner, they also do it with the excellence of the other services. I asked for 2 slices of olive ball, the ball was whole and they ended up with 2 tiny slices, just the crust, barely visible on the plate. They cost €4.40. I complained to the waiter when he put the plate with the slices down, because what was presented seemed unbelievable to me, but he turned his back and didn't respond. Went for breakfast today. As you go inside, you immediately notice a big frog displayed along with the cakes in order to keep gipsy clients away. Gipsies are extremely superstitious and fear frogs because they bring bad luck and unhapiness. In 2022 its sad to see such behaviour from well known companies. No one can acuse them of hiding their intentions though. Deplorable.

Good afternoon, today, like every day, I went to Doce Alto do Marquês to have my coffee in the morning at around 7am. I had the coffee and so far so good, even though I was listening to an employee (Mr. Mário) trying to solve a problem with the cash register on the phone. This man was shouting at the person he was on the phone with and also with the rest. of the team working there, nothing professional and no respect for customers. I finished having my coffee and went to the cashier to pay for my coffee, not the cashier that was out of order but another existing one in the establishment, there were some customers and it took a while for someone to come to the cashier, which I understand. What I don't understand is the following attitude of the employee mentioned above, I was in a hurry to avoid being late for work, so I went to this gentleman where I put a €1 coin in the machine, not caring much about the change, it would stay there my currency because what mattered to me was leaving the coffee paid for. This man rudely took the coin saying he didn't accept it and threw the coin out of the door onto the street and literally onto the ground. Entendemos que o que refere é no mínimo estranho... Será que a determinada altura alguém foi atendido e pediu para escolher croissants do tabuleiro, obrigando a "remexer" o mesmo e dando a ideia de que não houve cuidado na nossa arrumação, ficando a montra com aspeto de tudo "ao monte", conforme considerou?
Por favor, entenda que há picos na hora do serviço que não nos permitem a reposição imediata, limpeza ou arrumação como gostaríamos, porque o serviço é dinâmico. Se não trabalhássemos talvez a apresentação estivesse constantemente imaculada...
E é muito importante não confundir isto com falta de profissionalismo, o que nos fere!
Mas ainda mais grave para nós é a sua afirmação sobre clientela "seletiva"... Saiba que na Doce Alto todos os clientes são importantes e atendidos da mesma forma, não há lugar e/ou margem para qualquer tipo de discriminação. E, ao contrário do que escreve, isso não faz de nós uma confeitaria vulgar, mas antes um local onde todos são bem-vindos e bem tratados. Esse sim, é o nosso interesse! E se não gosta disso, conforme refere, resta-nos respeitar. No entanto, consideramos que isso não é de todo justificação suficiente para nos avaliar apenas com 3 estrelas, prejudicando toda a nossa pontuação, conquistada à custa de esforçado e humilde trabalho diário com todos os clientes, um a um!

Delicious food and pastries. Good coffee, very nice atmosphere, Mostly Portuguese clients, which have benn coming here for years.
