We called around 7 pm to make a reservation for the same night. When we arrived they apparently struggled to locate the reservation, but we were eventually seated. The server arrived and said they could only serve desert, however someone from the staff shouted out...that we had a reservation. Two minutes later he announced that they could only serve bachalau balls. At that point we simply left.More
We were recommended this place by a local, so we gave it a try. We were looking for a place where to taste typical Portuguese food without spending too much money, something not touristy where local people would go for a dinner... And this place...met all our best expectations! The staff was also extremely funny and easy going, and totally made me feel like coming back whenever I pass by Porto again (hopefully soon!! 😃)More
I wanted to celebrate my birthday with a nice dish of duck rice and Pedro kindly prepared it and reserved it for me, although it was not part of the menu of the day! And even a chocolate cake was made for the occasion. I...was already a fan and after these treats, look ... I don't even know what I am anymore! They're simply fantastic and very very very friendly! I LOVE THIS PLACE AND THEIR FOOD ❤More
Not expensive, better to reserve a table or you need to wait for a while before to get it. Many people want to enjoy their meal even if you think that you will be the only one going there.
Service is friendly and offer fixed...dishes (around 6) but also they provide you with some small fried starter not included in the menu and you need to ask for it if you wish to have it.
Dishes are quite big, the beef dish was great in term of taste and cod fish was in the average but a very big piece.
Dessert very good, for a total bill of around 30€.
Suggested if you do not want to spend much and you wish to have a quite good quality of food.
I will call tomorrow to check if they have different dishes on the menu to try something else.More
Found this taberna by accident.Just wanted a coffee really, but the English speaking (well) chap told us about the white port made by a very small house that he sells here. So we had one, with the coffee. Also ate the cheese tart, which was...lovely. Would have gone back in the evening, but too far from our hotel.More
Really really enjoyed the meal at Santa Antonio. The waiter/owner was really friendly with great English! The menu was simple but had a nice varied amount of proper hearty Portuguese food. The chocolate mouse after was some of the best we’ve had and it was...extremely cheap for the quality of food.More

We just took our chances & walked in. As another person commented, service moves along so you could put your name on a wait list. I think we waited perhaps 20 minutes. If you're there for more than a couple of days, you could either make a local call, have your hotel do it, or just go by & try to make reservations for that night or another.
