The portions were large and the food was tasty when we ordered the swordfish and the cod pie on a Sunday evening. It was slightly more expensive than some of the neighbouring restaurants but the quality of the dishes made it worth the extra cost, and it has a good location that overlooks the river. The staff were friendly but... More

We dined at chez lapin in July. I had the sardines (6 big ones, served with potatoes. Too bad there weren't any vegetables), My friend had the salmon (great dish!). The service was correct, but they divide the terrace in separate areas which makes it weird when the workload isn't even . But great atmosphere at the waterside! Ps: don't... More

We spent a very pleasant evening dining in the outside area overlooking the river gazing at the lights and watching people pass by. The night we were there was busy but the service was good and the food very good, my Wife loved the Chicken dish. A complimentary Port at the end of the meal was a nice touch.

2 times i have been there the food was cold because of bad un organised service and the worst part of this restaurant is the waiters, they are very very rude.

Friendly waiters but it was 15h30 so kitchen was semi-closed. They only offered 'salad' which is really a side dish and not a meal. Sea food salad was good. Chez lapin salad and cheese salad disappointing.

This restaurant is right on the boardwalk so it is good for "people watching". The outside patio is shaded by umbrellas. I had a seafood pasta dish which was very good. The service was also very good. This restaurant was a little more upscale than the ones next door, and the price reflected it. Had tablecloths, etc. I noticed the... More

Very good restaurant, very well located just on the edge of the River with a great view on the famous Luis Bridge and Villa Nova de Gaia. The restaurant was value for money. Definitely try the specialty rabbit there, it was excellent! Great staff, very friendly! Thank you to João and Ceasar for making our stay memorable ;)

Prime location so prices reflect that but service was timely, attentive and friendly. Sea bass and sardines cooked well. As good a placebo eat along the prom as any and probably better than some.

My wife and I have chosen Chez Lapin for its location, on the agreeable Ribeira, the beautiful Douro riverside in the City of Oporto, Portugal. We ordered "Arroz de Pato" (duck rice) and "Espadarte Grelhado" (grilled swordfish). The former was served cold and very dry; the latter was as hard as a sole, a shoe sole. We drank half a... More

Sitting close to the river in the tourist part of town, this restaurant was recommended by the usually-quite-reliable DK Eyewitness guide which I consulted at the apartment where we stayed. Overbearingly over-friendly service seems, in Portugal, to be an ominous indicator of a restaurant's standards. Here was no exception. I ordered the rabbit cooked in red wine - the house... More
