Homemade and fresh fish. A true hidden gem. If you're coming to Madeira you must go to Jaquet. They just have 8 tables, the kitchen is right in front of you and they dont have a menu; just the fresh fish of the day. Lapas are amazing and espada is fantastic. Thank you so much

Discovered this amazing place many years ago. It is really only a room with a raised cooking area, a small bar and washrooms. Run by a sister (the cook) and a brother (the waiter) it is home to the best cooked fish in Funchal. If you want a menu, comfy chairs, deserts or elegant touches don't go there. But if... More

Went again on first night back in Funchal (we first came 2 years ago), and every bit as good as last time. Limpets for starters, scabbard fish and veg for mains, with tumblers of wine to accompany. Locals eat here, and as others have said, avoid the tourist traps on the same street. Book or go early (as it fills... More

Good and fresh fish, very well located in the touristic center of Funchal, just at about 50 m of the Labradores Market. We paid 51,40 € for an entry of lapas to share, a dish of tuna and "dorada", a bottle of wine and two coffees.

I went there with my girlfriend trying to find good inexpensive food. We also did not want to eat in one of the many tourist restaurants. We found Jaquet and were not disappointed. There was no menu, but the friendly waiter explained what we could have and his wife cooked it in the kitchen while you could watch from your... More

Only fish and seafood cooked in simple and tasty manner. Scabbard fish was amazing. We had also dorada, tuna, and sword fish. Potato wedges with garlic and majoram were great as well. Not to be missed!

The food is not exceptional, but good and the whole meal is a show. The restaurant is run by a brother and sister. He takes the orders, serves, fillets and she cooks to perfection. He writes nothing down, just rememebers everything, by repeating it loudly so his sister knows, and all the customers as well! There is only fish on... More

Don't bother with the nearby tourist restaurants that try to entice you in with false niceties and then rip you off with mediocre food and service, go to Jaquet and eat with the locals. No menus, no fancy decor and nothing over the top. Just great, fresh fish of the day that is well cooked and very tasty. All washed... More

Amazing food, nice service, fresh fish and a very small authentic place. Everything you might need is here. Our bellys were too fool to even think of a dessert. A must visit place with very good food and good prices.
