This place looked good from the outside but the food was very middle of the road. The fado singer OK, but only sang 3 songs then had a break of 20 minutes! You can find much better within 100 yards, and less expensive.

Enjoyable lunch here, friendly staff and reasonably priced. Like many places in Funchal, they have spotters on the street looking for tourists who can be a little pushy, but overall a really good experience!

The espada with passionfruit, banana and madeira wine sauce was unforgettable. Great paella, and lovely setting outdoors -- despite the rain.

We wanted to hear some Fado and chose the restaurant for this reason. That's the good part. We ordered bread and codfish for starters, First came the bread, followed 5 minutes later by the codfish, followed 5 minutes later by more bread. When we told the waiter that we'd actually already had the bread he smiled and gestured that it... More

Stopped in for a drink one night, the food looked good and the atmosphere was Iively with a singer and locals in eating, so we went back the next night and were not disappointed. Service was friendly and not slow and the food was freshly cooked. Between us we had steak, fish and sucking pig, accompanied by dishes of vegetables,... More

We came across this place during the day and liked the look of the courtyard with an old stone watering point with large brass taps in the middle of the courtyard. We returned in the evening and were warmly greeted and given a choice of tables. We arrived deliberately early at 19.30 as the \fado singer started at 20.00.Having all taken the... We ate here on a sunny day at lunch time in October. Looked welcoming with crisp table clothes and a bit unusual, as an old well in centre of restaurant and bronze statue to the side. Sangria was fabulous, we had garlic bread to start and chose a local fish stuffed with Prawns - fish was amazing ( waiter showed... More

I am astonished at some of the poor reviews given to this restaurant as we had a good experience. Staff were quick and efficient, the food served was tasty and very enjoyable. The menu is extensive but fairly typical and prices are slightly higher than some other places. Portions are more generous though. The waiter did tell us without prompting,... More
