Full of character, Restaurant Manager total professional, seems to be everywhere! Not the cheapest, but worth every euro.

Went twice in one week. Latterly to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food and service are both excellent, definitely recommend, but I would suggest booking.

This was our favourite meal in Funchal. Sad we couldn’t books second night as we were leaving. The Madeiran tomato soup was the best we had on the island as was the fish, we had both the sea bass and the scabbard fish. The cheese...platter for dessert was lovely and the pan a cotta was perfect. Wine pairings and Madeira to finish were very well chosen too. Presentation was beautiful. Highly recommend this over the Michelin starred restaurant around the corner.More

We did not book, went because it was near to the hotel we were staying at & managed to get the last available table for two. The maitre d, was very helpful.I opted for lamb chops for the main course and cheese board for dessert,...both were good.More

I went three times in two weeks as the food and service is so good, I always have the concept menu with unlimited wine. Beef carpaccio & Fillet with green pepper sauce, Prawns on toast & rack of lamb, Salmon carpaccio & chicken in garlic...butter. All very good. Live music too. €10 dearer than my other favourite Mozarts but handy for the Carlton. Two tiny criticisms. The toast would be better crisp rather than soaked in oil and they declined to let my girlfriend have a half portion of risotto for a starter even though a full portion is priced cheaper than the starters. Mozarts and the Forte have no problem doing so.More

Fantastic food, wine, ambiance staff and service was excellent, overall a brilliant night. Could not have asked for a better experience. I could eat there all the time. A big well done to all.

What a fabulous night we had at Hemmingways. We hadn't read any reviews, we booked a table mostly because of the proximity to where we were staying. The service was fab and the food really amazing, all enhanced by the lovely music played on a...Kokle. A really brilliant dining experience that we hope to repeat before we leave Madeira.More

Friendly, attentive and skilled staff. Nice live music ambience. The food was delicious and the menu offer is a true bargain. We enjoyed our visit so much we had to book a table to another night as well before our vacation ended. Can definitely recommend!

We elected to have the special menu. There was a great choice offered. We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and the wines offered with the meal were very generous and we were given a top up without asking. The food was well prepared...and presented. I would definitely recommend it and have no hesitation in returning next time I am in Funchal.More
