We ate at Armazem do Sal twice while we were in Madeira. It is located on a quiet road near the old town and is a world away from the tourist traps nearby. The food is traditional but sophisticated. The presentation and flavours are superb....More
On a week's visit to Madeira we dined at this fantastic restaurant 4 times twice for dinner and twice for lunch.
The 5 course tasting menu is superb and I recommend taking the matched wines. Most people overlook this restaurant for lunch and if you...More
We have been to Funchal several times & always go to Armazem de Sal. This time it was for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We were picked up from our hotel by taxi & dropped off at Armazem where, from the moment we stepped into the...More
We’ve been coming here for many years and always had the special menu with wine pairing. On this occasion, whilst the food was good, the service wasn’t as attentive as before and we were definitely short-changed on the wine. Not worth the extra.

Wecwere looking for a high quality restaurant with great food and attentive service and found it thanks to TA.

Will come again ...

Excellent quality and choice of food. As special concept to include house wines also very good value. Good location in Funchal old town in an old salt warehouse, so great character. We look forward to a return visit on our next trip to Madeira.
The ambience is above Madeira average and the food is good. The portions are more Nouvelle Cuisine than not but you do not end up hungry. The bill is a little bit high considering that we are not in a high cost country.
