In September, in Vancouver I remarked that I never go to a restaurant twice on holiday. Well I seem to have happily broken that rule again, this time I would go so far as to say I would happily return to Madeira just to return to Armazem do Sal. Tonight being our 2nd visit, was as good if not better... More

Wonderful staff, delicious food and great atmosphere. Just make sure you book a table inside in order to enjoy it properly. My daughter, as always when we go there, had the taster menu, which is great value. And I, as always, had the crispy prawns as a starter. Not to be missed. Certainly our favourite in the town when wanting... More

I loved the whole experience starting from a very kind and professional team of young waiters and chefs. The place looks good, the service is great and the food is amazing! The price is worth it and to be honest is not that expensive anyway. I ordered the local fish + rice: the dish was artwork... it looked real good... More

We normally come here at least once every visit to Madeira - never been disappointed on numerous visits. This time was a birthday so decided to have the tasting menu this evening - fabulous evening for food, wine, service, ambiience et al. Thank you to all staff

My wife had the Octopus and I had the Tornedos, both perfect. We chose the 3 courses and wine deal with a free glass of madeira with dessert. We chose our own wine. Bill was 85 euros. Great atmosphere in what was an old salt cellar with retained bare stone walls and wooden ceiling. Lovely classical guitar player.

I went there with my wife, as I had a very disappointing meal the previous night (another restaurant, Karisma - see my review of that one). It was our last night in Funchal. I chose the scabbard fish, as it is traditional, and I wanted to try it. My wife had the duck. See photos of our food which are... More

We have been visiting Armazan do Sol, ever since it opened, it is always very reliable in all aspects. We visit at least 3 times every time we are in Funchal. We will be back in January for a month.

This restaurant is accessed via a narrow'ish passage. It's not the most attractive entrance to a good restaurant I have ever seen! The passage does not do the restaurant justice! The restaurant is very well decorated using some the original items from the salt warehouse. Also some of the original very large beams of wood. All in very good taste,... More

We ordered the taste the wine with your dishes from the menu. Honestly? It was a fantastic experience. Food was supreme....I majored on fish dishes and the selected wine only heightened the flavours. Won't bore with excellent service and knowledge of the staff. Well done chef and all the staff. Strong five stars from me.

Booked as hadn't been able to get in previously and expected great things from the other reviews. Asked to sit inside and told not available although other customers were asked their preference on arrival. Put close to the guitarist who performed well but mainly for the single lady customer next to us who proceeded to sing and hum along to... More
