The restaurant is beautiful and traditionally decorated. The black risotto is really good. We also ordered tuna, calamari and prawns bruschetta with risotto. My other son had rice with duck. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were really nice and helpful. The rice with duck came with cheese which is something my son is not very keen on. The... More

You could easily walk past this place and miss it. Tucked away up an alley this restaurant ouse's charcher. Great for groups but also a romantic meal for two. Waiting staff are attentive without being over the top. Now the most important part . . . the food. Everything we ordered was excellent. Cooked exceptionally well and presented beautifully you... We always look forward to eating here at lunch time. Their daily menu at Euros 9 is a real find as the quality of the food is so well cooked and served. The staff are charming and very polished with the service. We dined on their tuna burgers with tomato sauce and sliced beef served with potatoes gratin. Good wine... More

We are Armazem 'groupies'. It has always been our favourite and we had a lovely evening. The ambience and decor is a delight, the staff are so good and professional - even the younger members. Unfortunately, the food has become too 'twee' - as though it is trying to be a 'Michelin' starred restaurant. The wines on the fixed menu... More

One of our favourite restaurants in Funchal, the lunch time menu is extremely good value. Staff are friendly and take care of their customers. Highly recommended

Four of us visited the Armazem do Sal and opted for the concept menu which served wines to suit the chosen courses. A complimentary glass of fizz got the evening off to a good start. For starters I had Crispy shrimp in kataifi with dried beet and apple; main was a broiled duck breast served with duck samosa, pear and... More

Another week in Madeira eating at top restaurants every night. Armazem do Sal, the old salt factory, is right up at the top. The fixed price menu including wine is good value. Menu includes a wide range of fish and meat dishes, all beautifully presented. The quality of service is outstanding and guarantees a great evening.

We were recommended to visit by friends while on holiday in Madeira. We tried to go on Saturday night but it was fully booked, but managed to get a table on Monday. The ambience , food service and music were excellent. We had the set menu with wine pairing, everything was well presented and tasted delicious . I would definitely... More

We had not visited for two years and wondered why after our meal. The service was exceptional and we were made to feel thoroughly welcome. My wife and I both went for the concept meal from a menu offering a very varied selection, with matching wines for each course. Every course was exceptionally well cooked and presented and my wife... Just back from a week in Funchal, we ate somewhere different each evening and this was definitely our favourite. The food was amazing, we loved the building and the guitarist, and to top of the whole package the staff were wonderfully friendly and enthusiastic. This was the only restaurant all week that offered wines to actually match your choice of... More
