We happened to try this restaurant after our walk to Balcoes. The staff was wery pleasant, food was served quickly and grilled smoked trout was absolutely delicious. It was the best fish of my holiday.

Met all island tour buses on arrival of our 56 bus after 45 minute trip from Funchal and quick walk around the trout hatchery. Strong coffee was good value at 1.50 euro and sidra was a snip at 2 euro. The latter is cold-pressed cider...More

The location is realy nice to have lunchor dinner at. However, the service was not friendly at all and the food was a little bit overpriced. The fish soup lacked of taste (salt, pepper, fish,...) and I would not go there a second time.

There seem to be two places to find food in Ribeiro Frio. This is the slightly more expensive but has more choice and a better ambiance, with a log-burning fire in January. We only had sandwiches and weren't too impressed with what looked like spam...More
