This cafe/snack bar is placed in a narrow road opposite the Vila's palace. There are two! The other one is further up this road. The first one has been there for 150 years! It has an amazing selection of delicious cakes! But the ones they actually manufacture are called "travesseiros" meaning long pillows. They are made of flaky pastry with... More

On occasion we found this caffe in the center of Sintra. The prices were good, so we had lunch there. We took 2 dishes of the day (each is 6 euro, one was meat and another one fish), bottled vine Porta Ravessa Tinto (4,2 euros), bread (60 cents), 2 espresso (1,4 euro) and 1 pastel (1,2). The service was good... More

Said to be the best cafe to try the local delicacy Trevessarios, a warm almond pastry. A very ordinary style cafe with tables inside and a mixture of locals and tourists. It serves a mixture of snacks both sweet and savoury. We had to admit that if we hadn't known the pastry was almond we would never had guessed it.... More

Unbelievable almond pastry... you must try them. They might not look like much, but it is clear to see why they are the local delicacy.

The warm almond roll cakes are the house specialty and were good, but my white coffee was tepid. The 'hot' milk brought in the jug was just warm. When we asked for the bill it took a long time to arrive. I didn't find the service to be friendly or even mildly warm, until we got to the cash register... More

When in Sintra, you should stop at Piriquita and try their "travesseiros" and "queijadas". Take some home as well

By far one of the best pastries I've ever had.. a slightly crispy pastry with the a soft center with the most delicate custard.. it's amazing.. getting a craving as I type this!!

I had to try both Pastel de Sintra and Queijadas! And I am sure this was the right place to do this 'cause everything was very fresh and yummy! Loved Queijadas, pastel de Sintra was very good but "over sweet"!
