Came here on the recommendation of our friendly hotel front desk receptionist. Amazing service! The hosts spoke good English and took the time to explain the dishes. All dishes tasted exquisite and cooked to perfection. Great value for money. We ordered an entree and two mains but was so full we couldn’t eat any dessert which was a shame as it looked like a great selection. Highly recommend if you want to eat like a local.

Good value for money!

Good value for money! Good food. We had mussels and pork cheeks. Both were very well made. The pork was very tender. We paid less than 50 euros for dinner for 3 persons including rosé wine, soft drinks and water. White table cloth and friendly waiters.

Hidden gem!

I came to Cantinho de Sao Pedro for dinner as part of a small group touring Portugal. We were the only tourists there. Food was excellent - local/homemade, generously portioned, and priced far lower than expected given the quality. Pedro (the owner) and his family provided engaging service and offered useful recommendations when asked. Highly recommend.

Fine but not Great

Our first meal in Portugal while we were out on our fist day of sight seeing. Found the restaurant fine, but not great. Everyone in our party liked their meals, but didn’t love them. I personally had the Carne de Porco à Portuguesa, which was flavorful, but pretty dry. The Entrecôte c/ Estragão that another person got was just swimming in too much sauce. The Esparregado was bland. All in all, just an average place with average food in our experience.

They did not have the ones listed on their wine wine list. The veal in cream sauce and mushrooms was so full of gristle and bone that most of the meat was inedible. The pork cheek stew was good. I do not recommend this restaurant with all the other options available in Sintra.

Something delicious, something not so good

The pork cheeks in stew was delicious. The veal in cream sauce with mushrooms was poorly butchered. Almost a third of it was gristle and bone. With the meat being covered, it was difficult to cut it without running into bone. Further, you could not tell where the gristle was. It was a very good wine.

Typical Portuguese surprise!

Restaurant clearly frequented by local Portuguese! The owner is very friendly, he recommended dishes and wines to us, showed us how to eat the white cheese that is served at the entrance (to make it tasty, you need to add black pepper on top and olive oil) and was super attentive to the our wishes. The food is divine…super well served! I shared cod with my husband, as we thought the dish was big and so we had room for dessert! I ordered profiteroles which are covered in chocolate and my husband ordered a typical dessert, with eggs and cinnamon. Everything was very good! The atmosphere is very nice! Friendly staff!

Despite the kind and affable welcome of the waiter who accompanied us throughout the evening, the cuisine is of low pretensions. Fish dishes that are heavy and overly seasoned, a slice of meat floating in a kind of pesto. I spent the night drinking water.

A surprising place in a fairy tale town.

As soon as you enter you can tell that it is a family business treated with care. The person in charge of the room, a very kind man with a certain resemblance to Bud Spencer, explains in detail everything they can offer and deals with all the options (we have a little girl who has become a vegetarian, poor thing). Once dipped in flour, the food is spectacular in every way. We shared some finger-licking mussels with garlic and cilantro sauce. In the main ones the level was maintained. Grandma's meat, very good. Roasted knuckle with chestnuts, spectacular, but better to go hungry. For dessert, the "Farofias", a type of custard, are to die for. Highly recommended then take a good walk to compensate 😉

Excellent atention

We were a family group of eight people, quite late for dinner in Portugal. We booked with very little time, but they treated us with great kindness. Abundant dishes, well advised, reasonable price, without loading the complimentary starters that we did not consume. We would repeat without a doubt.

Restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere and friendly people. The starters were very good, especially the fresh cheese. I ordered the Chateaubriand for 2 people. I really liked how the meat came grilled. Served with cold potatoes, oven-roasted tomatoes and spread. I thought the tomato didn't need as much salt and the asparagado was good but it lacked the acrid flavor of the turnip greens. The chocolate mousse was excellent, a little bitter as I like.

Great restaurant

We were staying nearby for a few days and went in for an evening meal. The staff were very welcoming and attentive even though the place was busy. The food was excellent and portions were large, make sure you are hungry. Very reasonably priced and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic dinner, excellent steak and fries (home made real fries!) , perfect service. I highly recommend for a family dinner - I have come here for the last 30 years and I find the same quality over the years.

Excellent mussels... soup too... excellent fish... everything top! and the owner looks after the customers and wanders around the tables. punctual service! correct prices! only flaw... why put cheese on the table??? and then make the customer pay???.... I didn't understand!.. how do you not touch something on the table when you sit down hungry?... mission impossible!

Good meal and great service

We just wanted a place to eat. After navigating around the want to be social media influencers at Peña palace, I was spent. I just wanted to see the sights and not waste my life away waiting for them the get the perfect shot. Not a lot thought or preparation went into choosing Cantinho de Sao Pedro. We were hungry and wanted a good meal. They delivered. Service was great, food was good and the price fair.
